I know the test line should be as dark as the control line, or darker, but since it's only a fraction lighter, is this classed as a positive ovulation test?

I wouldn't class it as positive, but I'd do another one a few hours later to see if there was a change. If it's lighter both later and the next day, the peak was probably this one you've pictured. If it gets darker still in subsequent tests you'll know that's the peak then 👍

My cycles are usually around 32 to 35 days long, I start getting 'fertile' mucus around cycle day 17.... Doesn't tend to go completely until cycle day 20/21.

I will do another ovulation test this evening and then twice again tomorrow to see what they're like. I've been testing twice a day every day, around the same time, and they progressively get darker each day
