Coil partially expelled - no period but neg test

Hi,

I’ve had the copper coil put in in January and all was well - at least I thought it was.

My period was due today and has been 26/27 day cycles - 8 days each time - for last 6 months and even before that, not much different. I checked my coil strings as was due today and whilst it looked like I could only just feel it - as I gently took it (I didn’t pull it), I realised it had coiled up and went right down to the start of my vagina - one string was longer than the other!

I took a pregnancy test this afternoon - clear blue and had drank lots this morning and had a good drink before the test. It came back negative. I’ve been getting a lot of aches past week or so and twinges but other than that, nothing new. I am assuming by now test would be accurate?

And assume I’ll have to have this coil taken out? It was awful going in so not sure what to do!

Thank u for reading :)

Was in in tact? Did it look like the letter T with both arms?

Just re read, so it’s not actually come out, so you need to have an exam to check location of coil, protected or no sex until you have another form of contraception ( if you want that) you’ll need to repeat preg test three weeks from last sex. The aches can be from the coil If it’s come out, but it needs checking to ensure if it has expelled it’s in one piece, there have been some copper coils where an arm has came off before so get checked

Thanks guys for ur responses :)

It hasn’t actually come out but it’s so low - I could pretty much see one of the strings! I had what I thought was kidney infection/ stones around Easter time - feeling hot, crampy and wondered if it was then. Tho it never amounted to anything and the last it was like that I assumed I’d passed a stone as I screamed and then the pain went. Also around the same time, I had a really painful period - I’ve never had a baby but the pain felt like contractions so wondering if this has been like it for a while.

I’ll try and get in at the doctors ASAP - thanks :)

If you can see a thread it’s likely not in your uterus so assume your not covered for contraception, good luck 👍

Thank you for that - I hadn’t thought about it this way xx
