Im not 'desperate' for a girl, but I know I dont want anymore after 3, so a girl would be nice.

Im going to TTC after christmas.

Im on the pill - should I stop it now??

But bearing in mind Im getting married in December and DEFINATLY do not want to be PG then!!

Have to say that my ds1 was born in the USA and the consultant i a was under believed that some men could only produce one type of sperm hence some families having lots of girls or lots of boys !! Chinese gender chart was accurate with all mine as well!!! I fine all the theories fascinating!!!

You need to follow it to the letter though, if you are serious...

the method we used was:

Lots of sex running up to ovulation - then ceased naughties 2 days before ovulation was due

Boy sperms die in 24 hours - girls last up to 3/4 days - cesing 2 days before ovulation means there would be no boys left when egg pops out

Lots of sex reduces male sperm count, but it actually reduces number of boy sperms, not girl sperms

No female orgasm during sex to maintain corret alkaline/acid balance in vagina and so aid girly sperms in their swim to victory

We conceived or gorgeous DD in the 2nd month of trying using Hazel's methods. Our 2 other babies, who were spontaneous, are lovely boys

BTW the same book is excellent for general advice about TTC and in particular, predicting ovulation

DH we have just had a conversation about knives shipped from America from a girl we don't truly know, to a girl she doesn't truly know. One is called Califrau, the other LGJ and I have been on the fringes of MN so long I think it is normal.

I have found this thread really interesting, and it goes a long way to explaining how I came by 2 girls. Firstly, I have a magnesium-rich diet, secondly I have always weighed under 54.5 kgs, thirdly DH would, ahem, ejaculate frequently (don't ask), and finally the timing theory is perfect. When DD2 was conceived (a bit of a shock, I can tell you) it was because MIL was coming to visit us for a few days. I told DH that sex was off the agenda whilst she was in the next room, and that he had better get in quick before she arrived. By my calculations, it was a few days before my 'danger zone', so we should be OK. Nine months later we welcomed all 9lbs 6oz of DD2 into the world.

I agree with the diet theory. DH has been veggie for 30 years and I have eaten a veggie heavy diet since we met 4 years ago. DH has 2 girls from his previous marriage and we also had a girl. I was in an NCT group of 8 couples and we all had girls within a 2 week period!

Lots of sex as soon as your period finishes to lower the sperm count apparently helps!!! All you wrote foxenstiencreature i 100% agree with !! Its a great book a really interesting read my copy is now on its 12th person everyone who has used it has got the baby they want be it a boy or girl !!! The key is finding your day of ovulation which some women fine hard but the book gives you lots of tips how to work it out !!!!

I thought that I might like to make a suggestion. As I understand it timing is the key issue here. When I got married nearly 31 years ago I so a programme on television that seem to offer a solution. The sex of a child is determined by the male sperm. The male sperms is very active for a short period of time; so if the overy is in the womb the chances of a male child is high. However, the male part of the sperm does not have long to live and dies; the female part of the sperm lives longer, so if the overy has not yet entered the womb the only sperm that is left is the female part, hence a female child.

I used this system and it did work for me, but perhaps I waws lucky. I say this because one christmas when the christmas lectures were on about DNA and some one asked why do men have nipples, the answer that was given was that all life starts as female and a male is just a modified female.

But you can give the theory a try

I hate to blow all your male/femail sperms theories out the window but Ds1,2 and 3 were concived in that day 12-16 window so perfect boy days. Ds4 was concieved on day 8 of my cycle. No signs of Ov-ing, theory says he should be a girl.

I do think it has something to do with the enviroment the egg and sperm mets though. Poss TMI I get thrush quite alot so my fanjo is an alkaline enviroment. Someone who doesn't get thrush alot would have a more acidic fanjo. I've read somewhere about woman "washing" there laa-laa in vinegar to create an acidic meeting place for the sperma nd egg but personally vinegar goes on chips not of my.....

it's only an increased probability, LadyT, and just as well really or there'd be villages in some parts of the world with no girls at all.

but if you want certainties, I can tell you that in order to get a pink baby you need to shag a pink man and not a buff or brown coloured one. there are not too many of them about, but you can have that tip for nothing.

but the very idea of a day 12-16 window is rubbish anyway, we all ovulate at different times. i'm a day 18-21 girl and my pal ovulates on around day 9.

But Senora, Hazel CP sells this as a theory which is up to 98% effective which I really don't think can be accurate and I do think it's misleading.
