Soooo 12 months and nothing’s happened...doc has just approved us for testing.
I’m due to go for my first blood test this week - my cycles are textbook and OPKs and temping suggests I’m ovulating normally.
Could anyone outline the process, what happens after the blood tests / semen analysis?
Making the appointment kinda feels like admitting defeat and we’ve got a long road ahead :(

@Ls2020 yes but you're entitled to the details, and those they'd usually mail or email to you depending on the gp. Fingers crossed it all works out for you!

LS2020 · 12/08/2020 09:09

@Juno231 yes very true, plus they never really bother to tell you either way so at least one of us should get the results!! Thanks, I flip flop between them wanting to find something so it can be treated but not because I’m awful taking pills or injections haha

@Juno231 so when I went for my day 21s the nurse booked me in for my day 3s... gone in today for my day 3s and the other nurse looked at me like I was mad and said it wasn’t a thing and need to speak to my infertility doctor - I don’t have an infertility doctor?! She spoke to another nurse and then came back and said that I don’t need day 3s if my day 21s were ok (???)
What do I do now - do I ring GP and ask for next steps or wait for OH to do his SA tomorrow and wait for those results before ringing? Do they do any more tests on me before referring to fertility specialist?

Hey. Thought id give what happened with us and timescales since i read one of you is west Yorkshire and I am too. We first went to the GP in late Dec 2018. I had day 3 and day 21 bloods. Husband was given an appt for sperm analysis which was in the Feb time I think. We didn't get results from that back until March 2019 (waiting for an appt with that specific gp as they wouldn't give us results over the phone). We got referred to seacroft in Leeds following a diagnosis of azoospermia. After the march referral from the gp our first appt with seacroft was in the may of 2019. They scanned my ovaries and checked DH sperm again. We saw them again in June and where told we would need icsi ivf. From that point we where told it would be about 12 weeks for a nurse consult to start treatment. We left it more like 16 as I wanted to loose some weight to meet NHS criteria. In the end for a few reasons we decided to go private and had more tests at this point (amh) and began our first cycle in Oct 2019 so almost 10 months after first visiting the gp. It's not a quick fix process and there are obviously delays now due to covid. Hope that timescale has helped

Juno231 · 20/08/2020 18:48

@ls2020 that nurse sounds full of cack AND she's now delayed you by a full cycle?! Definitely ring your gp back and tell them what happened. Just because your progesterone was fine it doesn't mean that everything else is fine. The day 3 tests could show you anything from PCOS to thyroid problems to perimenopause. Gah I'm so angry for you - what a hag!

LS2020 · 20/08/2020 19:22

@Mseddy thank you - I’m West Yorkshire so really useful!

@Juno231 well I’m delayed two cycles now as on holiday next time I’m due AF 🙃
Honestly she was nice but seriously rude like ‘I’ve been a nurse a long time and never heard of doing those blood tests’ like so I’ve basically made a fake test up and demanding you do it?! :s soooo annoying. I just know GP is gonna make me have them after all this
