Hi guys, just thought I'd share my bfp journey because I know this is exactly the sort of post I was browsing the whole Internet for when ttc..
So the main thing I learnt is to definitely do BBT. It's the only method we have of actually knowing when ovulation occurs. I have an average 28 day cycle and when I started using OPKs I got an LH surge or static smiley at cd13 so we obv dtd loads around that time. When that didn't work, I then started to test bbt and discovered that although I had an LH surge at cd13 my temp did not rise as it should once ovulation had occurred. I then started to do more opks beyond my initial surge and discovered and I had a second LH surge at cd18 which actually resulted in ovulation according to BBT. So two LH surges that month?! I doubt that happened every month but certainly did then and the following month when I conceived.
So learning that I actually ovd at cd18ish of 28day cycle meant that I felt I had a short luteal phase. The month I conceived I took vit b6 all month. I had LH surge at cd13 and cd21 that month with 21 being when I ovulated. I guess the bit b6 pushed that back??? Who knows if it actually had an effect or not but obviously didn't have any harm.
We dtd 3 days in a row before ov day that month. Then 4-6dpo I had low back ache and some cramping. 8dpo I had bigger darker nipples and 9dpo I woke up absolutely convinced AF was coming.. Cramps were EXACTLY the same as AF and I was sooo emotional thinking I was out. I did a test that morning on an ic and it was negative and I chucked it in the bin. Later that day when I emptied the bin I double checked it and it had a faint line I hadn't seen before. I did a Frer and sure enough... Positive! Attached is my chart for anyone interested in trying bbt. I do recommend it. And fertility friend is a great app for plotting it.
