Should I be worried opk and ovulation

Hi all I posted earlier in my cycle that my ovulation strips only showed one line. This is my first cycle TTC and just wanted to share my opk stick pictures to ask if anyone has any idea where or what is going wrong. I know I missed one day but don't know if that could be the missing link or should I be concerned that I'm not ovulating.

Are you lining up the lines in the photo with the lines on the tests? They look too fwr away for the intelligent recognition to pick up.

These are mine from this month

Actually this month's weren't the best as there was an issue with the app, this is June's tests

@claireb707 yep I am lining up the c line and tbh today I was sure I could see something but it still says 0%. Looking at yours mine do seem far away so I'll try and do them closer. Getting a bit tired of dtd because I'm not sure when the big surge is. Also feeling despondent that perhaps I don't ovulate.

How long are your cycles normally?

Initially my thoughts were the same as @claireb707, I think you need to be taking the picture closer to the test strip.

Also I noticed you missed CD17. There's a bit of something on 16 and a bit of something on 18. I know it's not super common but without 17 we don't know if maybe you had a really quick surge that you missed due to missing the OPK.

If you are struggling tracking or frustrated by it, then if possible you should have almost as much of a chance of falling pregnant if you just DTD every other day of the month until your period arrives (or until you get a BFP Grin). Statistically if you get unlucky then you'll DTD 3 days before ovulation and the day before ovulation, and if you get lucky you'll DTD 2 days before ovulation and the day of ovulation... no tracking required. I've read a few research papers and most of them suggest that DTD the day before or the day of ovulation gives you a very similar chance of falling pregnant.

We did smep this month so started testing at cd10, I also use the clear blue digital advanced tests and as soon as I get a flashing smiley on those I start doing multiple cheapy tests a day to ensure I catch peak, I can normally catch it pretty closely as I've been doing it so many times (this is cycle 12 for us 😢)

You definitely need to be getting closer to the test to take the photo,

Are you using first morning urine or later? Some cheapies you need to use 2nd or later urine, the clear blue digital ones you can use fmu

Hi, I notice you’re doing yours in the afternoon. I can’t do mine in the afternoon as I have a bladder condition so I have to pee so much every day, by that time it’s too diluted to show up on the sticks. I have to do mine in the morning, usually between 10:30 and 11, I’ve attached a photo of my tests last week. Could you try doing yours in the morning instead? (But you would need to wait a couple hours after first waking up)

@claireb707 thanks so much I did take a pic closer and finally got a percentage come up. Can I ask exactly which clearblue do you use? Planning to try them next month. Also how have you managed to stay motivated for the cycles?
@Curiosity101 I want DTD every other day but my husband will tap out for sure. And I take it quite hard when he's too tired or unable to perform. But the Opk help me gain perspective.
@Nam095 I'll try your strategy

It's my first TTC but I already feel a bit fed up. There is so much onus on the woman.

It's the clear blue digital advanced (the 2 hormone one) I get mine cheaper on amazon subscribe and save but they often do deals on then.

Must admit we are struggling with being on cycle 12, going through the motions of fertility tests at the moment but it's still hard every month when my period shows up 😢

Pinklilly · 04/08/2020 19:56

Thank you all so much for your help @claireb707 I actually peaked finally. Although that's day 21 and my average cycle is 28 days so don't know if I should be concerned.
I will look into the clear blue perhaps next month!

My husband however is unable to do the deed today as his parents are unwell and he has left to go to them. Bless him he tried before he went but failure to rise! It's made me really sad I know it's our first month ttc but to miss the peak feels sad. We only managed to do it on Saturday so think it's safe to say I'm out.
I hope the fertility tests prove useful and help guide you but kudos to you, you seem really positive

Yeay 😀 for the peak! But boo to h being away 😢

You do get 5 days before and 1 day after ovulation so you arent out yet!!

Your period will almost certainly be later than normal if you've only just ovulated (and ovulation is likely to be the day after peak not the day of peak)

Pinklilly · 04/08/2020 20:27

@claireb707 gosh I didn't know that re ovulation being day after peak. That's so helpful! You've given me so many tips thanks alot
Yes I want to keep fingers crossed re 5 days before ovulation aspect. I think I would be incredibly lucky but trying to stay realistic with my chances.
I hope my period is late, I've never had a late period but as you say ovulation being late should mean I don't start next week. Otherwise is that an indicator of low progesterone?

OP posts:
Curiosity101 · 04/08/2020 21:07

You normally ovulate 24-36 hours after your peak so there's still time if you get the chance tomorrow. Likewise as the PP said your 5 days pre ovulation are also classed as fertile.

Your period is likely to be 12-14 days after tomorrow. But you're right that if you have any spotting or anything beforehand then it could be due to a hormonal imbalance like low progesterone.

Good luck with everything ☺️
