Metformin and PCOS/ TTC Baby #1

Hi all,

I thought I would start a thread for those with PCOS and currently on Metformin, have been on it or about to start.

I received my diagnosis a couple of years ago but I am only getting treatment for it now. I first had to deal with fibroids and endometriosis, but now I am all in the clear after the surgeries. For this part of TTC this year we are on cycle 3.

I hear the symptoms are brutal so I am a bit scared. I will be taking my first pill this evening after dinner. 1000mg for 2 weeks and increasing the dosage thereafter.

Any ideas on how to manage the side effects better? For those it helped, how long did it take on Metformin to ovulate and conceive?

I am hoping it doesn't take us long to finally get out BFP after spending the whole of 2019'on treatments and surgeries.

The only side effect I had was feeling nauseous. It never made me sick, but I just felt sick. I was on 100mg 3Xday .. I found eating little and often helped. I took it for 3 months (third cycle we fell pregnant) after trying for 12 months without any help.

@Babyshine2020 thank you for sharing that. It gives me hope.

I took the pill immediately after dinner last night and went to sleep 2 hours later. I am feeling a bit weak this morning but yet to have any serious symptoms. I was a bit light-headed when I woke. I hope it treats me as good as it did you.

@AlreadyThere Are you still taking the Metformin? How has it been going for you?

I started 1 1/2 weeks ago, on 500 mg for the first week and now on 1000 mg (one pill in morning and one in the evening). First week felt just tired, now on the higher dosage I feel really sick.

Wondering how long on average it is taking people to conceive and when you should be taking pregnancy tests...
