Did I test too early? How many DPO did you get your positive?

I know this answer to this will be yes but I think I’m just looking for reassurance more than anything in the hope I’m not out this month already.

I had a positive ovulation test on the 10th June and took a pregnancy test last night which was a BFN. Because my cycle is a bit longer than usual due to me still breastfeeding, I forgot to take into account I’d only be 8dpo or less (I assume less as you don’t ovulate on the day you get a positive?)

I’m TTC baby #3 and I didn’t use ovulation tests or anything for my other children, I managed to get pregnant straight after coming off the pill so this is quite new to me. I have one test left so I’m going to hold off testing til next week. I hope there’s still a chance of a positive 🤞🏼

With ds1 i got a faint positive at 11dpo. Ds2 i got a faint line at 9do. I didn't get a really strong line until the day AF was due both times. Sounds as though you're a bit early. I'd re test in a few days as you say. Good luck!

@KatnissK thank you. Did you test first thing in the morning? I tested in the evening which I think was another bout of impatience from me

For both my pregnancies, I didn't get a BFP until the day my period was due and even then it was still a faint line!

I was sure I wasn't pregnant due to a negative test the day before but used my last test just to make sure before I drank al the gin.

Sounds like you might be testing a bit early, try again in a few days, fingers crossed for you x

I always test with FMU. I think after your period is due you can test anytime but before that FMU is best.

You are testing way too early, my first 3 pregnancies I never tested earlier than when my period was due (3rd ended in a miscarriage at 7 weeks), then the fourth time I decided for the first time ever to buy a first response and caved at 11dpo, I wasn’t expecting to get a positive so early to be honest but I got a pretty clear line, it would have been there I reckon at at least 10dpo. I think ideally it’s better to wait, I really kicked myself as I was 4 or 5 days before my period and found it very stressful waiting to see if my period arrived. I found it much better for no period to show up and then test and know I didn’t have to wait for my period.

@willowandsage thank you that gives me a little more hope

@IsItGinOclock1 I agree it’s better to wait for no period to show up. I told myself I wouldn’t obsess over ttc, I caved with the ovulation tests pretty quickly because my cycles are a bit messy at the minute. Then I said I wouldn’t test until I’ve missed my period but here we are!

With DS1 I tested after I missed my period (I was actually on the pill and didn’t bleed on the 7 day break so I just knew) but with DS2 I tested about 5 day’s before my period was due because my boobs were so uncomfortable which is my tell tale pregnancy sign. I’m still breastfeeding albeit just in the mornings now so uncomfortable breasts are the norm so I think that’s why I’ve been eager to test.

Now I’m down to the last one I’m not going to waste it before AF is due!

I felt implantation at 9dpo and tested the next day (10dpo) and had a faint line but very noticeable. All pregnancies are different and implantation can vary! But not all women get a positive before AF. 🙂

@LucyGrace19961 that’s very reassuring thank you! I live in hope!
