What do we think of supplements for TTC?

Hi ladies and gents (I know it’s mumsnet but I know dads pop on too)Smile

Me and my fiancé are starting our TTC journey next month which is very exciting but also very nerve wracking! I’m aware that getting pregnant isn’t always easy, I could be lucky and it could be however it isn’t always.

Recently I read that Luisa Zuissman recommended supplements she used to successfully conceive her babies!

I don’t know wether to try without supplements and then start them if we get 6+ months down the line with no success?

However I like the thought of good vitamins and my egg quality being great! As of course I’m unsure what quality they are. I will be 22 when we start TTC so age is on my side in a sense but, another disclaimer, I know this doesn’t mean I will be guaranteed an easy TTC journey.

There’s no harm in taking them I guess! And if it cuts our TTC journey down that would be good!

Have any of you lovely ladies taken these supplements? Did they bring success?

I've literally just stared taking Folic acid & vitamin D. The NHS say to start taking folic acid 3 months before TTC Shock which I didn't know about. The end of the month will be the first time TTC so fingers crossedSmile

@5rosebud good luck! Sending you all the baby dust! I also am now looking at the folic acid as I didn’t know this, best start taking ASAP

I'm taking the pregnacare-conception on the grounds that it certainly can't hurt. Except my wallet that is! I have also been prescribed the 5mg folic acid, but that's only due to family history of spina bifida. If the iron content of supplements isn't agreeing with you, having them with your main meal can help but not necessarily a miracle cure.

@Cappucinosoy Don't panic, there's a reason bread and breakfast cereals are fortified! And leafy greens and Marmite are good too 👍

I just took the boots pregnancy folic acid and vitamin d combined. Small and easy on stomach.

Hi!
My doctor told me to take a prenatal and vit D whilst ttc, ideally to start it a couple of months before ttc. I have been taking them for about a month, just got my implant taken out 2 weeks ago and doc said it’s ok to start trying straight away but it is ideal to take the prenatal/vit D a few months before to let it build up in your body.
Best of luck!
