Obese and TTC

Hello, I haven't seen any other threads on this subject yet but could be wrong!

Though it would be nice to chat to others who are TTC whilst being fat - whether you are trying to lose weight or not!

I can start, I'm 32 and have gained 3.5 stone since meeting my husband, and am now firmly in the obese category of BMI. I'm 5 foot 6, and since lockdown have started buying some size 16 clothes.
I feel very uncomfortable in myself, and feel unhealthy which I don't think will be helping my TTC journey. It definitely doesn't help me feel attractive for DTD!
I'm only on my 2nd cycle, and 9dpo but would love to hear others thoughts and experiences!
@Lucky2Be yeah I ended up doing a frer today and it was stark white at 13dpo so definitely out! Means I can drink at a family gathering on 18th now which is good, as there's a hot tub and alcohol so would have been impossible to keep secret
There's akwsrs an upside. 😊 You get to enjoy yourself while waiting for ovulation.
What day do you typically ovulate on?
Mines was CD24 this cycle. 😶

I did a FRER today too. 😐

Had a phone appointment with my GP couple of days ago to discuss my restless leg medication whilst trying and then whilst pregnant etc. Really positive phone call! She didn't mention my weight at all, just said good luck and hope to see you soon to book your pregnancy in. So happy she was so positive and will defo make sure I go to her once I'm pregnant 😊

SarahTTC2020 · 14/07/2020 12:12

@Lucky2Be I've only properly tracked it twice and first was cd26 and last time was cd16 so I'll start OPKs around cd12 I think
@baker0104 really nice that she didn't mention weight!

Hi, I was the same as you, height and BMI wise. But healthy other than that. Was consultant led because of my weight and found it all a total waste if time. My LO is 18 months old now. Took a year to conceive. 1 miscarriage. My advise is to lose a stone or two now, while it's easier without being pregnant or with a baby. Get healthy for your future.

Can I join you?

I am really desperate to get pregnant. I have 2 teenagers from a previous relationship but me and my DP don't have any children together and I would love another baby. It's all my brain thinks about sometimes. DP is a bit older than me (I am 32) so I really feel we need to get a move on.
We have been letting nature take its course for a while but nothing has happened as yet so I have decided that I need to lose weight to give us a fighting chance.
I started on 17.06.2020 with a BMI of 40.2 which is dreadful!
3.5 weeks later i am 1 stone down and my BMI is at 37.8. Still a way to go but I feel like I am on the right path and I am starting to see the difference, my clothes are baggy etc
I'm due on in a few days but I feel poop- I know it's just my brain playing tricks on me as I am so desperate for a baby. I have done the month after month of testing and the horrible pangs of disappointment to have another period so I am not even going to test or entertain the idea that I could be this month unless I am late. I keep reminding myself that if I am then that is great but if I am not its another 4 weeks to get my body in an even better position to conceive.
A colleague at work has just announced she is pregnant, I am so jealous. Just want it to be my turn.

Hey, would love to join to!!
I'm 32 and been TTC for 5 months now. Classed as obese but not actively dieting just trying to be a bit more mindful of what I eat. Love the Pinch of Nom and Joe Wicks cook books!

I'm currently 23DPO, no sign of AF and lots of BFNs. Doctor says it's probably stress as I've been regular before this cycle. Hoping it's just a blip and we can get back on with things ASAP

SarahTTC2020 · 14/07/2020 17:23

@Reader1984 thank you, yes trying to make a change now incase it takes a while to conceive

@JamesZebra welcome! That's incredible results for less than a month! Are you following a particular plan? I understand how you feel, each period is a bummer but then also a few more weeks of being able to be actively trying to lose weight

@30somethingyorkie welcome to the 32 and apparently obese club 🤣 How frustrating! Hope AF turns up soon then, are you tracking ovulation still in case your body tries again?

@SarahTTC2020 I am doing the Cambridge plan.....its very expensive. I eat the meals provided by them and then eventually move up steps and back on to normal food. I would never usually use such methods but I was desperate to lose weight and it seems to be working well for me so I am sucking up the cost and pretending its an investment in myself Grin I guess its cheaper than a gastric band! I have tried slimming world so many times and I fall off the wagon after about 2 weeks. I can't be trusted around food Grin

gemashlou · 19/07/2020 08:58

Hi, can I join? I'm 33, have been off hormonal contraceptives for nearly three years, but only sporadically TTC in that time, mainly because my periods are completely bananas (45 day periods for example Confused). There's been a few tests done to try and find out what is causing this, nothing has been found so far, I'm currently waiting for my first gynae appointment. I'm currently in the middle of my first period in six months, so hopefully will start trying whenever it ends! I've heard that weight loss can help with irregular periods so I've joined up to slimming world, not finding it as effective without the groups though sadly!

Just wanted to wish all of you ladies the best of luck!

I was very overweight when I conceived, BMI of 38. I wasn’t consultant led as I had no other risk factors.

DD is nearly one now and I’ve managed to lose nearly 5 stone since the birth and feel so much better for it, it hasn’t been easy but running around after a baby has definitely helped. You are doing the right thing trying to be as healthy as possible for your pregnancy.

Best of luck you can do it, overweight or not x

Shannonttc · 16/11/2020 12:12

Hi I’m in my 20s with a BMI of 40 have tried shifting some weight but it feels impossible I have no health problems and a very regular period and I ovulate like clockwork just wondering wether or not my weight will be an issue ttc as I have no problems otherwise?
