Are implantation cramps really a thing?

Is it a myth, or are they real??

I'm 7-8 dpo, and 7 days before AF. Having very mild pelvic cramps. Seems to be too early for AF cramps, I usually get those 3-4 days before I come on.

Has anyone had implantation cramps?

I honestly don't know. I do think the fluttering feelings and cramps people feel and assume are implantation could just as easily be digestive/wrapped wind. I feel flutters etc every other month and am never pregnant so definitely is something else in my case.

Sdoo4 · 05/07/2020 18:09

@2020mission I’m the same, I always get flutters and think it could be something but must just be trapped wind or something lol!

TuckMyWin · 05/07/2020 18:14

I had serious cramps with both my pregnancies. Proper, curl up on the sofa in pain cramping.

ThePurpleMoose · 05/07/2020 18:17

The day before I got a positive test I was convinced AF was on the way because I felt exactly the same way with minor cramps and just feeling a bit off 🤷

DramaAlpaca · 05/07/2020 18:22

I never got any signs of implantation in any of my three pregnancies. I had other signs of pregnancy before a missed period, but no cramps or anything like that.

BrandoraPaithwaite · 05/07/2020 18:36

I definitely got implantation cramps but they were when AF was due or late. I kept going off to the loo with a tampon at the ready because they felt just like a period starting. Finally took a test when 5 days late and got BFP.

delilabell · 05/07/2020 18:40

I had the worst cramps. Had to take painkillers and thought I'd have to go to the Dr's. Was all perfectly online as implantation pain.

A08x · 05/07/2020 18:46

I had really mild, dull cramps, like a sort of niggle from around 6 DPO which lasted until a day or 2 after AF would have been due x

Aw326 · 05/07/2020 18:49

Thanks everyone, really helpful to hear that it happens. Will keep my fingers and everything else crossed, should know in a week either way...

Yes. I had them with my first and I’m just under 4 weeks now and have had the same pinching, scratching feeling as the first time round. Both times I instinctively knew that’s what it was and both times a test confirmed it.

LusciousV · 05/07/2020 18:56

I had one really sharp pain in my left side at 6dpo, got my BFP 3 days later (I'm assuming that was implantation pain as I don't get period pains/cramps). DS is now just over 3 weeks old ☺️

HogDogKetchup · 05/07/2020 18:58

I first tested at 3 weeks 3 days and got the faintest positive. I swear I’ve gotten symptoms both time’s almost immediately after conception. There’s no normal. Everyone is different.

LemonDrizzle44 · 05/07/2020 19:08

My cycles are usually 27-31 days and usually only get cramps on the day AF arrives. I'm currently CD31 and have had cramps for the past 8-9 days. I'm going to test tomorrow morning.

Aw326 · 05/07/2020 19:08

Thanks @HogDogKetchup - and congratulations!

Do you mean you tested at 3 weeks 3 days from the start of your last cycle, or from ovulation?

OP posts:
HogDogKetchup · 05/07/2020 19:14

Start of my last cycle. Thank you. Fingers crossed for you too.

Aw326 · 05/07/2020 19:18

Good luck @LemonDrizzle44 ! I hope you get a positive.

Congratulations @LusciousV that is so lovely to hear!

Hi! This has helped me a little. Around 6/7dpo I had mild niggling pains in my lower left abdo which I have never experienced before and was also wondering if this could be implantation! 8dpo now so time will tell x

Aw326 · 05/07/2020 21:57

Good luck @Sarah5678 - I hope it's a good sign x

I got my BFP 9dpo and I had cramping pretty much through 1dpo - 13dpo. I still get them on and off now. AF was due yesterday and I can say that the cramps I were experiencing were exactly like AF pains. I do think implantation cramps are a thing, but I didn’t have the bleeding that most people seem to have

LucyGrace19961 · 05/07/2020 22:56

I had cramping for around 10 seconds at 9dpo, 5 days before AF so knew straight away something wasn’t right! And now 6 weeks pregnant 🙂

Aw326 · 06/07/2020 09:13

Congratulations @43Boredinthehouse12 & @56LucyGrace19961 so lovely to hear of your bfps, also giving me hope! Interesting how different the implantation cramps are for everyone.

I'm having very mild cramps on and off. Feels slightly different to normal cramps. I am going to wait until later in the week to test because I had a chemical pregnantly 2 cycles ago and would rather wait to see if things stick. AF is due Sat or Sunday so I have a while yet.

Implantation cramps were a thing for me. I have experienced them about a week before my period was due. They lasted a few days and with each day of cramping I had also experienced very light spotting (brown in colour).

I am currently 7+3 days pregnant. Good luck to everyone!
