Should your cervix be hard or soft before period when TTC

So strange I know. My cervix is mega high this month... I'm due on in 3/4 days... it keeps going high then low again. The front is soft but back is so hard? I'm also reading contradicting things. Some say before you period your cervix will be soft some say it will be hard? I'm not sure if this is a positive sign of pregnancy or not!

I think cervix is soft in ovulation and pregnancy. And hard before your period. I think its lower before your period too and slightly open. Its ever so confusing! I try to use it to predict ovulation but I'm getting OPKs if AF shows next week Grin

My cervix tends to be low hard and open in the days leading up to period, I'm 11w4d and have no idea how it is as I'm a bit wary of putting fingers up there when pregnant, I read online that cervix will go high and soft and really tightly closed later in to the first trimester but for some people who have already had children it can happen as early as 12dpo. I don't think a cervix is a reliable indicator of pregnant/not pregnant as so many factors can play a part in how your cervix is behaving e.g women who have had children the cervix will never fully close again so can be hard to gauge what stage it's actually at x
