EWCM but negatives on OPK

Hey everyone!

TTC#1 and started using OPK's properly this month. They do stress me out and I feel I put more pressure on DTD when getting positive.

Anyway I try to listen to my own body and I'm due to ovulate around this time (according to apps) I've been feeling my normal one sided pain/twinge and I have EWCM (stretchy and clear) so I'm pretty sure I am going to be ovulating in the next day or two but my OPK have been negative!

Been testing twice a day at the same time each day ( afternoons).

I'm using the cheap one step ones from amazon. Do you think it's possible they are just a faulty batch? I want to trust my body and what I'm feeling but I suffer with high levels of anxiety and I don't know if I'm just overthinking everything I'm feeling!

Sorry for the long postGrin

Hi @SalG93 this is my first month using OPK too (this time round anyway, I did use them with DS who is 4 so feels like a million years ago) and I found that I had a couple of days of EWCM before I got a positive OPK, then watery CM on the day the Positive OPK and quickly turning to Creamy (sorry Tmi) after ovulation, this was with the clear blue digital ones.

@Csari ah thank you so much that makes sense!
Won't be able to DTD tonight so hoping I don't miss the window!

Trying to do it every other day Blush

Sorry if that didn't answer the question lol but I would carry on trusting your body and DTD while you have EWCM and maybe also keep testing as I'm sure you will have the positive soon and DTD then as well if you can lol just to be sure. Good luck for a bpf this month OP.

Every other day is perfect, I think that's what's recommended anyway and sperm can live for a decent amount of time anyway (i think 5 days?) so your in with a great chance.

@SalG93 every other day is ideal, so keep doing what you're doing. I too have tracked with 4-day digital OPK and it said I had my peak, but then EWCM arrived 4 days after that, so I'm not sure what was going on. I tried to ditch the OPKs this month and just go off EWCM, but had 6 days worth, which was a HF!

To echo @Csari, sperm can live inside you for few days, but I would work on the assumption that 3-days is the max. The advice is up to 5 days, so if you can carry on DTD you can make sure there's lots of reserves waiting for the egg. Best of luck!

Thank you both so much!

It's hard when your body is telling you one thing but OPK are doing the opposite.

I guess if we keep DTD every other day hopefully that'll cover all bases Grin

Sometimes OPK are more stressful, so I might ditch them next month and hope for the best 😞

@SalG93 I definitely know what you mean, I missed DTD on the day of Ovulation this month and spent two days feeling weirdly negative about it all, its supposed to be a nice time isn't not stressful. If you are DTD every day anyway then you should be covered. Ive seen lots of women saying they conceived on the one month they didn't track anything as they were more relaxed. Fingers crossed for you either way 😁
