TTC When would I see a BFP in theory?

I have a 3yo DS, we have decided to ttc for baby number 2. According to my app I ovulated on 30th May. We DTD on 29th May, 31st May, 1st June, 5th June and 7th June. So... fingers crossed.

I have a pack of 5 cheapie PG tests. I took one this morning which looks BFN. When should I try again? I feel reallllly bloated which has made me hopeful.

I ovulated on 30th too (I don’t track as such just rely on the pains) I understand that you have to wait until around 12dpo and then could receive a BFP with an early response test. Maybe test again from Wednesday. I’m trying to hold off on testing and wait to see if AF arrives on Sunday

jammyone · 08/06/2020 15:30

Hi @Bumblebei ! oh ovulation twins :)

thing is, usually my ovulation is quite painful and I experienced some pains in my right ovary on 1st June so I think it might have been later than the app predicted, so I might have to wait longer.

I guess the stick type cheapy PG tests aren't as sensitive as a frer either are they?

9dpo was the earliest I’ve ever had a bfp, but much clearer by 12dpo.

Also, I wouldn’t necessarily go too much by the date an app says, unless you’re inputting bbt data or using opk’s. I only say this as I’d used a few apps for so long, inputting dates of my periods etc, and was so surprised to see that when I started actually tracking ovulation using opk’s my apps were way off, sometimes by up to a week, so I’d been totally missing my fertile window! I thought I’d been ovulating around cd15, but In Actual fact I wasn’t get my positive ovulation test until cd22, meaning I wasn’t actually ovulating until cd23!

Could be worth investing in a few cheap strips to see if when you think you’re ovulating actually is when you’re ovulating, as being out by just a few days will make all the difference and could mean you’re testing at say 6dpo instead of what you think is 12dpo!

Moominmiss · 08/06/2020 15:35

I used to assume I ovulated around the cd15 based on cm, cramps and pinched etc. All the usual ovulation type signs. But nope. Once I started testing, it was much later!

Bluepolkadots42 · 08/06/2020 15:40

I ovulated on 3rd so doing the TWW too atm. The earliest I ever got a positive was 12DPO in my last pregnancy. Hope you get your BFP soon!

jammyone · 08/06/2020 17:36

Thanks for all that info @Moominmiss very helpful! At the moment we're kind of casually trying... But I will bear it in mind if we get further down the road.

My last pregnancy I'm sure it was 12dpo I got my bfp.

Good luck to you other ladies!

@jammyone I usually get sharp pains and go off these but it’s interesting what the other posts have said as we could be totally off by sounds of it! We are casually trying at the minute too and seeing if it happens. I’ve had two children but it’s been over 10 years now and other than all day nausea and sickness I can’t think of any other symptoms and was the missed AF that prompted me to test. Have you got any symptoms at the moment, other than bloating?

AliceVe · 08/06/2020 18:50

How did that affect your luteal phase?
jammyone · 08/06/2020 19:16

@Bumblebei I think the first thing I noticed last time round was the bloating, then really really sore boobs. All my other symptoms came after my bfp but generally I had a pretty straight forward pregnancy. Oh and heartburn that was another thing!

@AliceVe my luteal phase stayed at 15 days. So when I ovulated on cd22 my cycle would end at cd37.
I ended up using soy isoflavones to bring my ovulation forward, and managed to bring it forward to cd14, confirmed with opk’s. And my luteal phase remained 15 days but meant by cycles are now down from 37 days to 29 days!

AliceVe · 08/06/2020 20:03

I don’t know how to @ just to clarify the app was saying you had a 22 day luteal phase? The app was saying you ovulated day 15 but didn’t get your period until day 37?

Just wondering because I used fertility friend and it’s given me a 14 day luteal which seems right based on ewcm but I’ve never done opks.

Moominmiss · 08/06/2020 21:29

No my app was randomly predicting I ovulated on cd15, one app said cd16, so making my luteal phase appear to be 20 odd days long.
But as it turned out I was ovulating later and my luteal phase was only 15 days long.

I use period tracker, premom, fertility friend and femometer. All would give slightly different predictions but I’d input things like my cm, and any symptoms. I just didn’t track with actual tests. So the apps were basing their predictions on what little, and seemingly meaningless data I gave it, but when I was able to track properly I started testing from cd10 and would test every day more than once to see when I’d get my surge, then when cd15, 16 etc would pass and not even a hint of anything close to a positive test, I just carried on and on until I got a positive on cd21 meaning ovulation on cd22. I then carried on testing until the end of my cycle to see the tests go back to negative. I did this for a few months and each time my ovulation would be around cd21-23.
Once I started putting the new more accurate data into the apps it obviously gave me totally new fertile windows.
Then since using the soy my cycles are now down to 29 days with a much more normal cd14 ovulation and a 15 day luteal phase.

Well I couldn't resist the temptation and did another test today, BFN !

Omg I’m shaking 🙈 is this a line???

TheDaydreamBelievers · 09/06/2020 16:14

It sure looks like a line @Bumblebei!

jammyone · 09/06/2020 22:57

@Bumblebei definitely looks like a line to me! Congratulations!!!

OP posts:
Bumblebei · 10/06/2020 08:08

@TheDaydreamBelievers thank you 😊

@jammyone thank you, hope it shows again today. Which test did you use? You will be 12dpo today won’t you? I am going to be getting a few first response, I don’t trust the cb ones after seeing the reviews online

jammyone · 10/06/2020 08:19

@bumblebei Yes frer are the best tests.

I have just been using the cheap stick type you can buy in bulk. I don't think they are particularly sensitive. I had a bit of a tummy ache last night, have a sense that AF is coming sadly 😩

OP posts:
Bumblebei · 10/06/2020 13:52

@jammyone oh no it’s horrible when you feel those twinges but it could be anything! Sounds so patronising sorry but you’re not out until AF arrives. I’ve got some FR tests and just working up the courage to test again

jammyone · 10/06/2020 14:09

@bumblebei Thank you. I haven't totally given up hope yet as with my first baby I had definite implantation bleeding, and this is around the time that would be, its too early for AF I think! Maybe I'm just clutching at straws!

I bet you'll get a good line on a Frer test.

OP posts:
Bumblebei · 10/06/2020 14:45

@jammyone you will definitely know your body best. We ovulated same time so I would say too early for AF, I really hope it’s implantation twinges.

I’ve just took another test, I feel a little excited now saw it on here as was so worried about the CB test being wrong.

Was looking at your dates we were literally dtd on the same days too 😂 except we did it 2x on 31st. If that’s the conception date I’ll never forget it as DCs birthday lol

Alyssum34456 · 10/06/2020 14:47

I'd give it a few days. My test came back positive 3 days before AF due.

@bumblebei Amazing! congratulations! I bet you are over the moon.

How weird that we are completely in sync Grin I coudn't help myself and I have ordered some Frer tests for next day delivery just in case!
