Want to conceive but can't have my implant out

Is anyone else stuck in limbo?
Me and OH are ready to start trying for baby 2, I'm quite an organised and anal person and not being able to choose when we start trying is really getting to me
I have the implant in and obviously I can't have it taken out at the moment, I've called a few sexual health centres and no one is doing routine appointments,I just feel so deflated

We're not planning to start trying immediately but we will be later this year probably. Personally I'm not getting on too well with the implant though so I want it out ASAP.

If you have the option of private removal then I recommend calling around some private GPs and seeing if they can remove it for you.

I did not even think of going private, I will have a Google and see what I can find thank you

My friend pulled her implant out herself , not something I'd recommend , she was fine but sounds horrendous!

Coil it should say

I was in exactly the same position a few weeks ago and ended up paying for it to come out privately. It cost £155 which is a lot but I didn't want to risk trying to take it out myself and then having to go to hospital with an infection or something.

There was a thread about this recently. The OP was ultimately successful in her aim to get it removed- I'll see if I can find and link.

Found it! Hope it's useful:

I wouldn't try to remove my implant myself, I'm a larger girl and both times I've had it removed my flesh has basically covered the while thing and they had to spend ages scalpeling the flesh away 😂

There's only one private clinic near me that do it, I'm going to call them on Monday

Thank you for this, I have no problems with the implant I just want to try for a baby which going by that thread health professionals are trying to avoid at the moment which isn't really their decision to make, its my body and I would like to choose when I have a baby, hopefully someone privately can do it, thank you

Hi I am in the same position, want to start ttc but can’t get implant removed. It seems like gp surgeries are gradually starting to resume things again, but I don’t know when they might start putting in/taking out the contraceptive implants. Does anyone have any insight into this? I’ve been using the implant for over 6 years and been lucky because I’ve never had any trouble with side effects but I must admit it has made me a bit uncomfortable that I have no control over this. Think I will be going back on the pill next time I need contraception!
x

Basically, the take home message from the other thread is that if you threaten to cut it out yourself they'll generally do it for you. That's how the OP got it done in the end.
