Hello ladies
I’m currently ttc and this cycle I feel like I did everything right apart from one thing .
Slightly embarrassing but on the day of my positive opk dh used moisturiser as lube on his bits before we dtd !! I know silly idea and in the moment we just went with it . Now I’m wondering would the moisturiser have killed any sperm / made my vagina a off ph and killed the possibility of the swimmers making their way to the right place. Sorry for being a bit tmi! Basically can moisturiser and the perfume it contains kill sperm or make fertilisation impossible ? I have heard any perfume of alcohol based products kill sperm so I feel silly and like I could be out this month?
Just to add : the moisturiser was almost soaked in before we dtd !! Sorry again for weird question

Any insight would be hugely welcomed :) xxx

I don't know about that, I don't imagine it's very good for you though Confused wouldn't it sting?

user1464795209 · 26/05/2020 22:36

It weirdly didn’t
I know it’s really silly I have no idea why I said yeah it’ll be fine when he said could he use it as it’s all we had near!

It is madness to use moisturiser in your vagina. That is not what it's made for and could cause untold problems.

RyanBergarasTeeth · 26/05/2020 22:38

Ouch?

Yes it can harm sperms chance of swimming but it also isnt a contracptive so the posibility of pregnancy is still there. So its 50/50 i guess.

Ijustreallywantacat · 26/05/2020 22:38

Moisteriser is one thing that can break condoms and lower their effectiveness. I doubt it would kill sperm. Not an expert though.

chairandchairalike · 26/05/2020 22:39

Ouch! Sounds like thrush waiting to happen

Ijustreallywantacat · 26/05/2020 22:39

But given the risk of, I guess, thrush I wouldn't do it again.

MrsRogerLima · 26/05/2020 22:39

I doubt it would harm your chances of concieving op. It would give me a nasty case of thrush though. Ouch

daisychain01 · 26/05/2020 22:43

OP please get some proper water-based non-perfumed lube. Moisturiser is not intended for internal use! It is perfumed and can have all sorts of chemicals that are harmful to your internal sexual reproductive organs.

What was your DH thinking of! Don't allow him to make decisions about your health.

Lostvoiced · 26/05/2020 22:46

Probably worse for your fanny than anything else! Crossed my legs just thinking about it.

gamerchick · 26/05/2020 22:46

I'd be thinking more thrush happening than killing sperm.

Good luck, that made me cross my legs.

Thanks everyone .
I know I’ve never dtd usinf that before ?! No idea what we were thinking . IT was a few days ago and no thrush so far but will defo never do it again! Now I’m just wondering if my chances of conceiving this cycle have been ruined ! That was the day of my static smile on clear blue opk too :( lol

Might not kill the sperm but it could give you a nice dose of thrush!

indemMUND · 26/05/2020 23:50

It wouldn't exactly create a conducive environment. Live and learn, use the right products next time. At worst he's got a moisturised willy that hopefully didn't give you thrush. Look into proper lube that can help, eg Pre Seed.

fizzyblush · 27/05/2020 07:31

Blush thanks guys

Literally so embarrassed !

fizzyblush · 27/05/2020 18:18

Do you think it affects sperm if it's absorbed before dtd ? Sorry for tmi

gamerchick · 27/05/2020 19:30

No

fizzyblush · 28/05/2020 10:24

Thanks ! I hope so :/
