Stories: Any late implanters with BFN no AF??

Hey all,

Just wanted to read stories from your own/someone else's experience regarding late implanters.

I am currently 13dpo bfn since 10dpo and last tested this morning also bfn (frer and IC)

Positive OV tested on 5-6th May
First day last period: 20th April which is 6 days long.

I generally have a Luteal phase up to 10-12 days. But this cycle I wanted to know where my peak (darkest line) was at its at 6th May night time.

I have a 28 day cycle that runs like clockwork and so being 3 days with no AF in site is confusing me.

I'm hoping that I am one of those late implanters? Who knows! All I know is my body's playing tricks on me and I just hope if it's AF it turns up ASAP because the suspense is killing me!!!

I have no idea if I'm a late implanter, haven't been tracking/charting as not TTC as of yet (discussed to begin within a years time, and going to track my cycles when my stuff arrives this week). But I'm now 5 days late for my AF, and had a negative test so far (taken 2 days late). Holding out to test again, but it is driving me crazy. Had cramps, and felt nauseous, but that's stopped now. Occasional cramps at night. I'm pretty sure I ovulated already so don't think it is just my cycle being late, but also don't feel any symptoms at all for it to be that I'm pregnant!

Just hope that if it is AF it hurries up as I'm meant to be going back to work this weekend

I'm currently cd33 (usually a 28/29 day cycle) negative test today. I know how you feel. I have No idea what's going on, I have the bloat from hell, horrible metallic taste, not eating certain food as it tastes off, can't open the fridge without gagging (my husband said it smells fine). I just feel heavy around my stomach but no pains. If it's AF it needs to hurry up!

I know exactly how you feel ladies. There's no closure and I'm just itching for AF to either show up or will have to get a consultation done online with my GP.

I've had a very unusual pinkish spotting and I thought finally AF about to start but cramps are near enough gone except the odd twinge.

I'm very in tune with my body and I NEVER get spotting before AF shows. She's pretty dramatic and likes to make her presence known lol.

Hopefully we shall see tomorrow- bring on June I'm prepared for it 🙏 Keep me updated ladies, it's always nice hearing your experiences xx

I didn't get a faint positive until 5 days after AF was due and I have since realised I ovulate day 16 ish and short luteal phase.

A FRER should give you a definitive answer by 12 DPO.

Almost all viable pregnancies will implant between 8-10 DPO. A very high number of pregnancies which implant on 11 DPO or later will miscarry. A FRER is so sensitive that you should get a line within a day of implantation. So...you don't really want to be a late implanter and you don't want to get a positive at this stage.

I'm sorry for your loss. I've had a couple of late implanters miscarry as well. (But also an early one, so...)

@peperethecat where have you got that information from? I would be really interested to read the scientific papers or reliable website that you found. I had a missed miscarrage at 11.5 weeks so trying to educate myself as best as possible.

I'm sorry for your loss. Do you know the reason for your miscarriage? As far as I can work out they seem to think that the late implanters which go on to miscarry are likely to be chromosomally abnormal blastocysts which shouldn't be able to implant but somehow manage to, and then miscarry at an early stage. Very early losses are mostly down to chromosomal abnormalities, whereas later ones like yours could be for other reasons.

Thanks for that, it's a really interesting topic @peperethecat unfortuantley I do not know why the baby stopped growing it was my first pregnacey and the NHS dont really care at this point! That's why I am trying to learn as much as I can, it's a minefield!!

That's really annoying, since you were almost in the second trimester. They're supposed to offer testing if you have a "late" miscarriage, and yours was only just in the first trimester and considered "early", even though it wasn't really.

You could get CD3 and CD21 (or 7DPO) tests done at one of those clinics that offers fertility testing, and get a full thyroid panel done through Medichecks. You'd have to pay for them but if you get any unusual results it may give you a headstart on getting some answers.

You could also try taking baby aspirin in your next pregnancy in case it was a blood clotting issue.

The chances are very high that your next pregnancy will be fine though.

@peperethecat I have been reading about aspirin, that and low progesterone levels are quite interesting. Especially as I started spotting from 6 weeks and it happened on a weekly basis. Hospital kept telling me all was fine and not to worry about it. I am hoping it was just as the NHS would put it "one of those things" and that second time round we should be fine. Hopefully i wont need to go down that route but if I do miscarry again I would go privately and test like you said.

I would guess that you probably don't need to worry about low progesterone, because the placenta kicks in after about 8 weeks anyway, and you got further than that.

I'm on progesterone supplements but there isn't a lot of evidence that they make a difference, which is why most doctors in the UK won't prescribe them.

With dd only dtd on day 23 of a 28 day cycle. Didn't get a bfp until 14 days late for af! And dd was a week late but term on delivery they said..

@Windyatthebeach You will have ovulated late in that cycle. Probably a week late, judging by when your daughter was born.

If you hadn't conceived in that cycle, it wouldn't have been a 28 day one. Your period would have come a week late.
