I am having donor egg ivf (sorry! my DH and I are having donor egg ivf!)

My donor is now ready for egg retrieval in 36hrs time. The scan showed only 6 good size follicles and 7 smaller ones..........

Can anyone tell me if this is good or not?????
my dh and I are grateful to her for all that she is doing for us, but we thought she would have grown more????? as they are now saying that only 20% of IVF cycles have enough good embryos to freeze! and only 65% fertilise????

please help! any info welcome (by the way this is our 1 and only last chance of having a baby)

Pruners

I have had 2 failed IVF cycles in the last 12 months. With the 2nd cycle I had acupuncture right the way through - including day after ET. My acupuncturist was doing 2 IVF ladies at the same time. The other lady got BFP & I got BFN
However, 2 weeks after BFN I conceived naturally & am convinced the acupuncture helped.
Am currently going through a miscarriage (I have pretty major PCOS) but am def going back to her when this is over.
Good Luck.

They got 5 eggs from my donor and she is disappointed!

They will ring me tomorrow at 11am to tell me how many have fertilised

Don't really know how I feel, a very selfish part of me wanted more eggs than this, but my donors health is the most important.

The emryologist says 50-60% usually fertilise.

pruners, yes the wait is just awful! but I guess we have no choice.

Can I ask anyone who has been through this, how many of you did your own pregnancy test before the hospital one?????????? I am just thinking about the hospital one, They take blood at 9am and I have to phone at 4pm for results. Just thinking that if I did one at home, if it was neg then this would soften the blow etc. Of course I would still go for hospital one too!

What do you think??????? and how many of you did this???????

sorry pruners, was not thinking of testing early..... just the morning when the hospital test is due,(2 weeks after fertilisation) so that it would be less traumatic for us (waiting all day till 4pm to telephone them for the result!)...so at least we can prepare for the worst if that is the case!

Tempi, I just wanted to join with others and wish you the best and most furtile luck! Sending you lots and lots of pink and blue baby pixy dust~

I think you should test whenever/ however/ as soon as you want to! After all ~ pg girls can do what they want, right?

katendmom · 24/09/2007 19:21

... and that is "fertile" luck of course!

tempi · 24/09/2007 20:24

arrrrrrr! thanks katendmom! don't know what to do really????? will see how I feel next week. I am due at the hospital next thursday (4/10/7)...which will be exactly 2 weeks after fertilisation.

tempi, keeping everything crossed for you. Great news about the embryo. About the testing my clinic always asked us to do a test at home 2w after transfer. I would test at home, regardless of the outcome its something you want to know before anyone else. Lots of luck, hope and everything else you need

tempi · 24/09/2007 22:11

thanks suss! will prob test at home....OMG what a day that will be!

Hi tempi just checking in on you How are you, preggy mama?

tempi · 28/09/2007 17:11

OMG Kate! ....I so want to be a preggy mama!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi cedar and everyone. We it has been 8 days since my egg was fertilised and 6 days since ET.

I am putting my feel up and trying to keep my mind busy!!!! I must admit I am really missing the wine!!!!!!

I go from being a little positive to being very negative and I guess this is normal!
The more I think about it the more I convince myself it hasn't work!

By now.. if all is going well, my embryo should have implanted!!!!!!! OMG wish I owned a crystal ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am due for a blood test next thursday which will be 14 days after EC and fertilisation and will come home and do my own HPT as I don't want to have to wait 7hrs for the result!

Hope you are all well.

Cedar, look after yourself!

tempi x
