Hi everyone - new to mumsnet

We were due to get married this July (likely to be postponing now due to the situation Sad ).

Wondered if people had any advice for having the implant removed? Currently can’t as the lockdown is in place which is stressing me out a little as I wanted to get on with it now my wedding can’t happen this year.

We would be trying for our first when I can have the implant removed.

Thanks for your advice in advance Smile.

Hi @abilouise93 👋

Unfortunately routine appointments to remove implants have had to be cancelled with everything going on in the NHS right now, so it’s extremely unlikely you will be able to find anywhere to remove this for you currently, and without knowing how long this will be going on for it would be difficult to say how long you may need to wait for these appointments to start up again.

It may be worth looking into if there is anywhere you could have it removed privately, but there would be a cost involved with this and I’m not sure if these appointments will be running either.

Whilst disappointing it may be good to focus on the things you can be doing now that will make a difference, like starting folic acid and reducing things like alcohol and caffeine so at least you are doing something towards your goal and will be ready when you can have it removed? 🙂

Hi -

@MoonW I’ve started all that earlier last month, wasn’t sure how effective folic acid would be with the implant in but I’ve got loads in supply so I’ll just continue for now.

I did see one place privately during these still but it’s in Birmingham which is a little far to travel given everything.
