Hi, im a mummy of 3. ( all the same gender) and i really would like to ttc baby no 4. However my 3rd baby ( not the 1st 2 but they were a different dad) i suffered with hyperemesis ( i was sick up to 30 times a day for the first 20 weeks, did get easier after that) but for those first few months.... i was in bed at home 24/7 or i was in hospital on a drip. I couldn't look after my children, i lost 4 stone in weight.... it was pure hell.

I said to my self never again....... here we are nearly 4 years later and i am wanting to go for it one more time..... but not for a couple of months covid 19 is putting me off ttc right now...

Has anyone else suffered with hg in previous pregnancies and are now ttc ?

Baby dust to you all x

Yes, this is me.

I just stick by the fact every pregnancy is different, nothing to say it will be the same.

I started being sick from 7 weeks with my DD, right through until 20 weeks, admitted 3 times over that course due to dehydration.

It was shit and I wouldn't wish it on anyone but having been TTC No 2 for 18 months now I'll take any pregnancy I can get Sad

I did and I’m trying again now. My little is only 7 months but as I’m older 41 didn’t want to wait to long before having my second.
Mine starts at 7 weeks and only stopped when she was out. I was lucky and put on medication straight away as we have a family history of severe HG

MummyNWife · 06/05/2020 12:46

@ChunkyButFunky87 Thank you for your reply, yes this is very true every pregnancy is different. I unexpectedly found out i was pregnant when my youngest was 11 months old ( the baby i had hg with) and i crapped myself, i was so scared oh hg... but i went for an early scan on my youngests 1st birthday and i found out it was ectopic, i was gutted and heartbroken, i didnt have hardly any symptoms then but i dont know if thats coz it was ectopic. I hope you get ur bfp soon xx

@Em39ma

Hi i hope you get your bfp soon :) i am closer to 40 than 30 and i feel the same, i need to do it soon if im gonna do it.

No one in my family has had hg, some family just couldn't get their head around it when i was so poorly.

I was put on medication and it did help eventually when we got it all sorted, i took it my entire pregnancy x

I’ve got a load of medication over and as I’m trying again so soon it’s all still in date.
I had a miscarriage/ eptopic 3 months before I fell for my LG.

Yes. Recent research suggests that starting strong meds as soon as you get a bfp helps reduce severity and duration of symptoms. This was my experience anyway. Contact pregnancy sickness support's telephone support service for peer reviewed information you can show to your GP.

MummyNWife · 06/05/2020 19:33

@setsoma thank you i will google and see if i can find a number. I appreciate your reply. Did u have hg more than once ? and did u find it easier the second time with the meds in place first if that makes sense?

Congrats @ChunkyButFunky87.
I’m thinking of testing tomorrow as due on on Monday. I got my BFP at 5 days before last time

It was definitely better the second time around. Fewer vomits per day, less nauseous, no hospitalisation. The idea is to take meds long before you feel sick, they are less effective if you wait.

Em39ma · 07/05/2020 11:18

I better start taking my meds now.
Just got this.

coronaandtired · 07/05/2020 11:26

I've had three HG pregnancies, one I lost at 12 weeks. The last one was harder because I had another child to look after but easier because I was able to advocate for myself better in terms of treatment and medication.

NannyPear · 07/05/2020 11:37

I'm considering it. thrift now, later in the year. With DS1 I had bad morning sickness which felt pretty miserable. With DS2 I was hoping not to get the same sickness, and ended up with HG! My research at the time showed that if you've had HG before then you are likely to have it again. At the time I was pregnant with DC2 I told everyone to make sure I don't consider getting pregnant again and even made a video for myself to look at if I ever decided to have another, telling me not to!! There are lots of other pros and cons of having a third which I'll weight up first though.

MummyNWife · 07/05/2020 15:18

@Em39ma oh wow huge congratulations to you aswell. Yes i think you should start the meds now. x

@setsoma thank you, i think i will start taking meds as soon as i find out im pregnant ( not trying right now but hopefully in a few months)

@coronaandtired I have had 4 pregnancies, 1st two no hg, 3rd hg, 4th ectopic no hg. So god knows next time, just praying i dont get it.. or if i do thats it more manageable. Sorry to hear of your loss x

@NannyPear LOL its something to think about it isnt it. My older two are quite alot older than my youngest so would love a sibling closer in age for youngest x

I wasn't aware you could/should take before sickness. Obviously not easy getting seen right now so think I'm going to try and get through to my booking in appointment, if any sign of sickness by then ask for a prescription. That's at the start of June so just under 3 weeks to wait.

Fingers crossed!

setsoma · 08/05/2020 06:10

@ChunkyButFunky87

Ive found it much easier than usual to get seen by my GP right now, as everyone is staying away. And most appointments are over the phone, which saves time. Definitely worth ringing sooner rather than later, I think.aa

Try calling pregnancy sickness support first, they can send you the latest guidance for GPs, as most GPs are massively behind the times on this issue and will often resist giving may meds to a pregnant woman, even thought their own guidelines have changed.

cultkid · 08/05/2020 06:20

I started the meds in my second pregnancy earlier like at 5 weeks and i did still go to hospital a few times but I managed SO much better
