Hi all, I’m new so sorry if I’m in the wrong place, I’m 38 ttc baby number 5. I had three depo injections and didn’t go back last September for my new one, March this year I got my period and I was so happy, my cycles are 34 days long so I was over the moon when it arrived again on time in April BUT it was just one day bleed and the rest was spotting, then a week later I spotted again for three days and two weeks later I started spotting again :( I thought I was ovulating but then the spotting arrived and made it clear I was just having a messed up month.

I’m so grateful my period is back but I’m worried at the age of 38 that I’m too late to try again and I’ve messed my body up hence the weird period.

Basically I’m just looking for anyone that has had their period after the depo, did it take a while to settle or was it regular straight away.

I’m on 10dpo if I did ovulate but during the weird spotting month I had one day of ewcm and I do chart my BBT but honestly think they were a write off because they were all over the place. I took a pregnancy test hoping with faint hope I was pregnant and the spotting was a sign but it was negative.

Is it true that just because my period is back doesn’t mean the depo is out my system?

Thanks in advance.

Hiya,
I am 37 and came off the depo in June 2019( well was due to self inject June 26th and didn't). Was on it for a year came due to side effects. I didn't have a period after I came off it for 6 months. January of this year still no period so I went on the pill for 5 weeks and stopped to trigger a period. It did work and am now having regular periods.
I am not TTC conceive. If it happen it happen.
Period after depo can be all over the place.
I was also on it before for 8 years came off and didn't have a period for two years. Didn't bother me though. I was single and not TTC.
Just be patient. Everyone experience is different. I do understand your sense of urgency regarding age. I wish you good luck Smile

Thank you for the response. I feel a bit better knowing it’s normal that they can be a bit haywire, I was naive in thinking that just because my period was back I would be fertile straight away again. Suppose the first step is out of the way, I.e getting my period now I’ll just BBT and use ovulation tests and hopefully find a pattern soon.

Thank you.

Just take it easy and try to get too consumed with TTC, TWW and BBT. It can be so heartbreaking when things are not going the way we want it.
It will happen be positive 🙂

Weird question alert what are the gender of your children?
Reason I ask is I have two boys and my hubby think that if and when I get pregnant again it's going to be a girl ( or twins🤣) Lol I told him it's highly likely that it will be another boy 😊
