Planning to try next year - where to start?

Good morning!
My OH and I are getting married next year and we plan on trying for our first child after the wedding. I am currently taking microgynon and I have done for 9 years. Should this be a worry?
I also was wondering when I would need to stop taking that in preparation and when should I start tracking my cycles etc?
Are there any other things I should be doing prior to trying and when?
Thank you all x

I would stop taking the pill about 6 months before you want to start to try for a baby. It allows it to be fully out of your system and for a regular period to become established.
When I tried for my first I was having the the contraceptive injection and it took 7 months before I even had 1 period, it shouldn't take that long with the pill though I believe.

Start tracking your cycle ASAP, the more you know the better.
Start taking folic acid three months before starting TTC.
As above, stopping the pill before you’re ready to start TTC is probably advisable.

I was on microgynon for 14 years, finished packet had a withdrawal bleed, 28 days later first AF and 28 days after that my next AF. Some people find it takes much longer to fall back to a regular cycle though.

I would come off the pill at least 3 months before trying so you can start to track your cycle. Also start your vitamins at this point and (if it isn't already) think about making your diet top notch healthy. I think it takes about 3 months to change sperm quality so get your DP to join in with being healthy and taking vitamins to give you the best chance.

Definitely come off the pill a good few months before you want to start trying so you can begin tracking your cycles. I was on microgynon for 11 years and came off to TTC but my cycles were awful. They had previously been regular but when I came off my cycles were 60+ days, I only had 2 periods in 6 months which was very stressful. I did get pregnant after 6 months though. Good luck Smile
