Could I be pregnant with merina coil?

Hi everyone

I'm new here and just looking for abit of advice, I have the merina coil fitted since January 2016, my period never stopped since getting it fitted so I'm very regular and its normally here between days 25-30, I'm now on cycle day 46 so 16 days late, I decided today to take a tesco own brand pregnancy test and I'm nearly sure I can see a faint line making it a + positive it showed up within 5 minutes of taking the test

Has anyone any advice or are Tesco own brand pregnancy tests reliable?

I'm not too sure how to add pictures 🤣

Hey, I used tesco before and it was reliable.

Pregnancy can happen with coil. I had a mini pill baby too so I know how confusing it can be!

Hope you're ok xx

Also they don't remove the coil you just kinda give birth with it. I remember doing a post similar to this to see if there were any contraceptive babies and the amount of replies surprised me!

Congratulations!

Thank you so much, I really dont mind adding another little person to my family I already have two daughters (7&4),
I had a colposcopy and biopsy done on my cervix in February so I dont know if maby that's messed with my coil!

My mum
Got pregnant with the cool and they took it out during the pregnancy. Apparently they should leave it. Fortunately my little sister is 37!

Hailsxx · 24/04/2020 20:51

Hi, did they not remove your coil? when I had my lettz they had to remove it to do the procedure.
But yes you can get pregnant with a coil.
They do remove them sometimes and sometimes leave them in.
But I would contact the Gp. Congratulations x

Hi

I just wanted to update this post, so on friday I got what looks like a very faint postive on a tesco own brand test (see above pic) Saturday morning I done a FRER and got what looks like another very faint positive, still didnt really believe it so Sunday morning with FMU I did the second FRER test and it was a BFN I also done a llyods pharmacy own brand test with SMU another BFN

So I'm still very confused still no sign of AF I'm now 19 days late on cycle day 49, I think I'm just going to hold off testing for a week or so (easier said than done) and see what happens next AF should arrive around the 8th of May

I will attach pics of the very faint positive on FRER to see what yous think 😊

@Hailsxx how strange is that!!!

Hailsxx · 27/04/2020 19:34

I'm just so confused and I just want to know what's going on 🤣🤣🤣

Can you see the lines tho? Or am I going mad 🤣🤣🤣

OP posts:
Curiosity101 · 27/04/2020 19:50

I definitely see the lines on both but if it there is 3 days between the Tesco and FRER then I'd expect a much stronger line on the FRER if you're pregnant.

I don't mean to be alarmist but I would make sure you're aware of the signs of ectopic pregnancy just in case. But I think your plan to retest in a week or so is a good plan.

Good luck with everything.

Hailsxx · 27/04/2020 20:01

Hi,

Theres only 1 day between the tesco test and the FRER and then two negitive tests on sunday so I'm not too sure 🤣🤣..

Yeah I have read up on ectopic pregnancy just so I know the signs but as of yet I've had no signs of ectopic pregnancy

Thank you for your reply I will keep the post updated 😊

OP posts:
Curiosity101 · 27/04/2020 20:05

Sorry! You did say there was only 1 day between them. I'd just assumed the FRER was today. It's still very possible you are pregnant then Shock.

Were Sunday's tests a different brand? Could it be that they just weren't as sensitive?

babyG123 · 27/04/2020 20:18

Also did you do them all as your first wee of the day? So interested in this 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hailsxx · 27/04/2020 20:34

Yeah I think it could still be a big possibility! I was looking at my dates and I had unprotected sex on the 12th of april, when my AF would have been 3 days late and on the 13th i had pink spotting so I'm wondering would it be possible that maby I could have conceived on the 12th/13th and I'm testing too early 🤣🤣

The other tests I done on sunday was another FRER and a llyods pharmacy test but I used FMU and SMU where as the positive looking tests I done them in the afternoon/evening
