How long did your periods take to come back after miscarriage?

Hi all,

I had a miscarriage at 10 weeks about 6 weeks ago and want to start trying again as soon as possible. I still haven't had a period though - no sign of it at all (definitely not pregnant again, we haven't had sex).

For those ladies who have unfortunately had a miscarriage, how long did it take your periods to return?

Thank you Smile

KnobwithaK · 24/04/2020 08:44

Mine came back 4 weeks after my surgical management.

sprinkle19 · 24/04/2020 08:46

Mine took 8 weeks to return. I was 8 weeks pregnant and had medical management. X

Hi, sorry for your loss. I had a MMC at 7 weeks. We started trying again straight away but unfortunately my period came early - 3 weeks after my misscarrage.
I think it's normal for AF to arrive between 4-6 weeks after so hopefully yours arrives soon.

jazzibelle · 24/04/2020 13:13

@pinkdressinggown I think it all depends on when your HCG goes away. But I echo everyone else's 4-6 weeks seems "normal".

I had a MC at 6 weeks on March 25th, still waiting for AF (she's due any day). I still used my OPK this month as I wanted to know I'd ovulated, especially as my HCG pretty much bottomed out immediately (they assume it never progressed much beyond 3-weeks). I can feel she's getting ready to rear her ugly head, but I'm currently on CD32 - which makes me 4 days late as I'm a 28-day gal.

Have you taken a test recently to confirm it's negative? Any signs AF is on her way?

pinkdressinggown · 24/04/2020 13:33

Thanks all, very useful and thanks for sharing. Really sorry that you've all been through this too - it's hard.

@jazzibelle I only got a negative test about a week ago, so I'm presuming it counts from then so I might be waiting a while I think! Trying not to stress about it as that probably doesn't help either...

Hi @pinkdressinggown my period arrived 4weeks after my negative test.
Which was 6 weeks in total after I started bleeding.

Sorry about your loss, make sure you take the time to process properly, I had some time off when it happened, but recently needed another month off as I wasn’t coping. Went back to work 3weeks ago, and feeling brighter!

Elouera · 24/04/2020 13:45

Sorry for your loss. I've found each MC is different.

My 1st, at 11 weeks, AF started 2 weeks after the bleeding stopped, but it was extremely heavy, for 2 days, then spotted for 2. Took 3mths for AF to regulate back to my normal 5/6 day AF.

2nd MC at 7 weeks- AF started exactly 30days after AF started, which is my normal cycle. Bleeding was normal AF.

jazzibelle · 24/04/2020 16:02

@pinkdressinggown I believe that's correct, after no HCG your body just kind of adjusts back into a cycle. If you can (and if it helps) maybe track your ovulation, it definitely helped put my mind at ease that things were back to normal. Although until AF arrives, I won't feel like the whole ordeal is totally over. If it arrives this weekend, it means it took 4 weeks from no HCG. We plan to start TTC again next cycle, so I hope she hurries up!

Kona84 · 24/04/2020 16:16

I test HCG until negative which took about 2 weeks. Then started testing LH, I tried again before the next period as I had read some women have success. I didn’t have success and my period arrived 5 weeks after first miscarriage bleed, 3 weeks after the HCg had dropped.

Sorry for your loss and I hope you get your rainbow baby soon

SunnySideUp2020 · 24/04/2020 19:20

They came back 30 days after proper bleed

jazzibelle · 27/04/2020 00:17

@pinkdressinggown following up on this. My first AF arrived on Saturday, which puts me at 4.5 weeks post MC, and 4 weeks after no HCG was detectable anymore.

I've never been happier to see AF, we're going to TTC again this cycle - fingers crossed it's a sticky one this time!

Hope AF turns up for you soon.

pinkdressinggown · 27/04/2020 12:39

@jazzibelle How funny - mine finally turned up on Saturday too so we're in sync! I was so happy and relieved - strange to be so excited to have a period 😂 We're going to start trying again this cycle too - fingers crossed for both of us!

Thank you everyone for your replies 😊 xx

@pinkdressinggown how funny! Fingers crossed for you :-) I'm sure we'll see each other in another thread during the TTW

@pinkdressinggown @jazzibelle

Think I'm about a week ahead of you guys! I had a MMC at the end of Feb and this is my first cycle of TTC again.
Good luck!!!!!
It's so hard being stuck at home all the time as I'm constantly thinking about it
