Hello lovely people,

A little bit of background; I’m 26 years old and have been with my husband since we were 17 (we met back at school!). We’ll have been married for four years this August. We bought our first home last April and have been renovating for the past year.

We recently found out that my dad (age 56) has stage four brain cancer and likely only has about a year to live. We have always wanted to have children, and I’ve always wanted to be a relatively young mum... Finding out dad’s prognosis made us want to increase the chance that he can meet his first grandchild. It’s going to be a tough time ahead, but our heads and hearts told us it’s time to start trying.

I’ve not been on the pill for a couple of years so we’ve just used barrier contraception, and I’ve been using clear blue sticks fertility for the past four days; no smiley face yet!

At this point I’m just really looking to meet some friendly people going through a similar journey. None of my friends are at this stage of life yet!

Thanks so much,
Kay x

Hi Kay 😊
I’m 28, been with my husband since I was 18, been TTC since October when we got married.
My mum has stage 4 breast cancer and I’m desperate to give her a grandchild. So I can really relate to say the least.
I was on the pill for 10 years or so before coming off in September.
Currently on cycle #8 and it’s driving me insane thinking there may be something wrong even though I know statistically it’s still normal.

My best friend started trying around the same time as me and fell pregnant straight away. I’m absolutely over the moon for her but I’m also bitterly jealous seeing her pregnancy progress.
Fingers crossed it happens for us all soon 💕
Natalie x

Hey!

I'll join, I'm 27 and have lived with my boyfriend for over 2 years, we've been together for just over 7 years.

I've been trying since August, I caught in September but miscarried at 5 weeks. Ever since then we've been trying - I track ovulation with just internet cheap tests, I'm 7DPO today, I only have 12 days after I ovulate before my period is due so I'll be due on mid next week, fingers crossed I've caught this month!!

Sorry to hear about both of your parents, sending love xx

laurah92 · 03/04/2020 02:04

Hey ladies,
May I join? I'm 27, I've been with my partner nearly 8 years, we brought a house last year and have now decided to try for a baby, I came off the pill at the beginning of January, I waited just over a month for my withdrawal bleed and then we started trying, I've had 2 cycles which have been completely different, one being 24 days and the second being 32, af showed her ugly face a few days ago so I'm now onto the third month of ttc. I use advanced Clearblue ovulation kits and this month I've started tracking my basal temperature as well to really help me pin point ovulation.
Sorry to hear about your mum and dad, sending love and lots of baby dust x

Jade4856 · 03/04/2020 07:16

Hey!

Can I join?

I'm 24, and have been with my husband since I was 18. We got married 3 years ago and bought our first home last year.

I also have always wanted to be fairly young when I start a family and we decided now was the time.

I am in my first cycle, and will be able to do a test in a couple of weeks so fingers crossed!

EmbarrassingMama · 03/04/2020 12:24

Worth bearing in mind that if you do get pregnant now you'll be expected not to leave the house - at all - for the foreseeable future. (e.g. weeks).

Just mentioning because there are few threads on here from people who have been TTC for months and have now put their plans on hold due to Covid-19 and potential impact on their health, embryo health, salary, savings, and future prospects. Might be worth having a look at those so you're fully prepared! Good luck.

AliSxo · 03/04/2020 14:04

Thanks @EmbarrassingMama it's a really tricky time, I have made the decision to keep trying and that's my personal choice, I'm in a good job, I have savings and ultimately I want a baby, I've been trying since October and if I feel things get really bad that it effects my choice then I'll reevaluate but for now I'm carrying on xx

EmbarrassingMama · 03/04/2020 14:12

Good for you. It can be such a stressful time TTC, it's a shame it has a perception of being fun and easy - it can be quite the opposite!

Good luck, hope you get those two precious lines soon.

AliSxo · 03/04/2020 15:07

Thank you @EmbarrassingMama that's very kind of you, sending you love too xxx

AliSxo · 03/04/2020 15:08

Well today I'm 7DPO - boobs are a bit sore but not too badly, this TWW has really dragged, normally work and everyday life distracts me but working from home I've got more time to think about it!! Xx

Fertility1 · 03/04/2020 15:13

Hi all

I am ttc #1 but still haven't got a positive opk!

kayl7 · 05/04/2020 21:16

Hi all,

Great to hear your backgrounds and stories. Thanks for your replies. Got my first fertility smiley face today so fingers crossed... How’s everyone else doing?

I’m 37, been with OH for 9 years, had abnormal cells on my smear so had to have a Lettz done in October and had my coil removed. We discussed and said what will be will be. So don’t use contraception I had a miscarriage in February - I was shocked I even fell pregnant. Now I am trying not to think about it but can’t help wanting to pee on those ovulation sticks and each month I hope it will be my turn..... never thought I would feel like this as never thought I wanted to have children, that’s all I think about now.
Good luck everyone.

Nat4392 · 11/04/2020 09:41

Well currently 3DPO with AF due 20th, looks like it’s going to be a lovely day today so gonna get in the garden and soak up some sun! How is everyone doing?

kayl7 · 11/04/2020 12:01

Hey Nat! Hope you’re doing ok ❤️ It’s my birthday today so having a lockdown celebration with the hubby 😊 Sad I can’t spend it with my parents though.

I’m due 20th too... fingers crossed for us both 🤞 Do you plan on taking a test early or sticking it out? Xx

OP posts:
Nat4392 · 11/04/2020 13:05

Happy birthday!! 🎉
I plan on just waiting for AF, I’m so over testing early and being disappointed, not to mention the cost of tests! What about you? X

1izzie · 11/04/2020 14:00

Hi! Hope you don't mind if I join? I'm 25 and been with my fiancée for 5 years, we were meant to be getting married this August but with my dad and grandma in America and more family in Canada it's not going to go ahead unfortunately :( but we were planning on starting as soon as we were married and although we can get married next year we don't want to put our life on hold so are now starting! Af is currently 6 days late but two BFN's :( so lovely to talk to people about it!

kayl7 · 11/04/2020 20:46

Thanks Nat! I’m really sure - I have 2 first response test and a clear blue in the house but don’t want to unnecessarily waste..! xxx

Hi!
Hope it's okay to jump on this!
I'm also 26, been with my parter for 10 years and married last August.

Trying to conceive our first baby. Have been trying since we were married. I am currently 5 days late for period however since coming off the pill in June last year my periods have been all over the place, so I'm not getting my hopes up just yet!

Nat4392 · 19/04/2020 14:23

Welcome! When are you going to test?
I’m due Tuesday and definitely feels like she’s on her way, I’ve been a right moody arse today 🙈

Lily2020 · 19/04/2020 19:16

Hi all 👋🏼 I'm 26, I have a 21 month old daughter, been with hubby 12 years, married 3 😊 first cycle temping & using opk's 🤞🏽 coming up to fertile window so hopefully have some luck this month!
Any of you ladies testing now?🤞🏽🤞🏽

kayl7 · 19/04/2020 20:48

Hi Lily! If I can find the restraint I’m going to wait a few days after my period is due if it doesn’t come fingers crossed. Don’t want to waste money and get my hopes up too much... I had a bit of light spotting yesterday but don’t know if it’s period or implantation related... Xxx

OP posts:
Lily2020 · 20/04/2020 06:56

@kayl7 that's definitely the best way to do it, I'm just too impatient! I'm my own worst enemy 😂 I'm going to try & wait as long as possible this month, had a faint positive at 10dpo last cycle then all bfn's 😣 got my fingers crossed for you 🤞🏽

Nat4392 · 20/04/2020 09:05

That’s me out again this month, AF just showed up. So fed up!!

SmileyT · 20/04/2020 09:32

Hi everyone...

I'm 31 cycle 2 and trying for #1 I had an unexpected pregnancy at the beginning of the year that sadly ended in a MC in March but am just having my first AF since (even though we tried straight away after).

@Nat4392 sorry that AF got you this month, I'm currently CD2 so we can support eachother through the rollercoaster that is babymaking... how long are your normal cycles?

Nat4392 · 20/04/2020 09:42

@SmileyT. cycles are normally 25 days, although this one was 24, really don’t want them any shorter as my luteal phase was only 11 days this month. On the bright side, shorter cycles mean I can try again sooner. Just entering cycle #9. How long are yours?
