Hello lovely people,

I’m new to Netmums so apologies if I don’t get all the lingo right just yet.

A little bit of background; I’m 26 years old and have been with my husband since we were 17 (we met back at school!). We’ll have been married for four years this August. We bought our first home last April and have been renovating for the past year.

We recently found out that my dad (age 56) has stage four brain cancer and likely only has about a year to live. We have always wanted to have children, and I’ve always wanted to be a relatively young mum... Finding out dad’s prognosis made us want to increase the chance that he can meet his first grandchild. It’s going to be a tough time ahead, but our heads and hearts told us it’s time to start trying.

I’ve not been on the pill for a couple of years so we’ve just used barrier contraception, and I’ve been using clear blue sticks fertility for the past four days; no smiley face yet!

At this point I’m just really looking to meet some friendly people going through a similar journey. None of my friends are at this stage of life yet!

Thanks so much,
Kay x

Hey!

I'm also 26 and we are going to TTC later this year around October time.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. It's things like this that makes me think 'what am I waiting for' because you never know what will happen in life.

Hiya,

I'm 27 and ttc my first. I came off the pill a few weeks ago.

Sorry to hear about your dad.

Hello :) Im 26 and came off the pill in October, been trying since, tracking my cycles on Ovia app, and been taking folic acid and vitamin D.

I am currently in the '2 week wait' but I am not really hopeful as we didnt really try this month due to the coronavirus craziness!! We were unsure what to do but we both really want a baby asap! So we will just go with the flow I think and see what happens :) I cant wait for the day it happens though :)

Sorry to hear about your Dad. Hugs xxx

Argh think this thread has been duplicated so I’ll put my response on this one too!!

Hi Kay 😊
I’m 28, been with my husband since I was 18, been TTC (trying to conceive) since October when we got married.
My mum has stage 4 breast cancer and I’m desperate to give her a grandchild. So I can really relate to say the least.
I was on the pill for 10 years or so before coming off in September.
Currently on cycle #8 and it’s driving me insane thinking there may be something wrong even though I know statistically it’s still normal.
My best friend started trying around the same time as me and fell pregnant straight away. I’m absolutely over the moon for her but I’m also bitterly jealous seeing her pregnancy progress.
Fingers crossed it happens for us all soon 💕

Hi kay im so sorry to hear about your dad and i hope he gets to meet his grandchild. Im 28, nearly 29 and ttc my first. Ive had a very rocky road since my miscarriage and convincing dp to have a 2nd child (has one with a problematic ex). So finally he has said he wants one. I think i ovulated today and annoyingly we havent really dtd in days so have missed out on this month as dp refuses to believe you cant get pregnant any day during the month so im hoping after my next period he listens to me. Both my grandparents are pretty ill and frail and my dm has failing vision so i want all tjem around and have a baby as soon as. Im hoping corona will have treatment and close to a vaccine by the time a baby comes.

Hi ladies

I am 26 (27 at the end of this month) and ttc for our first. We've got married Oct 18 and decided to come off my pill in January but this month is our first proper attempt at trying. I bought ovulation tests for this month and I'm on cycle day 8 so going to start taking them soon. I have 34 day cycles so I'm probably too early but thought it would be interesting to look at the progression. Im planning on DTD the day of my peak and the following 2 days. Is that best do you think? Advice welcome.

Kay I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. I feel like you suddenly hit an age where that becomes a realisation, that you want your parents to be a part of you children's lives and was one of the reasons I wanted to try now rather than wait another year or so.
I hope he is keeping well and you get a smiley face soon!!

Kirsten xx
