Hey everyone,
I'm now going onto my third month of ttc, I have been using ovulation kits for the last 2 months but thought I would start tracking my basal temperature as well, I'm completely new to it so I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on it? It says you have to do it at the same time every morning before getting out of bed but does it matter if it's an hour different or so? X

@raspberryjamlove how are you today? My temp has gone back up today so hopefully it stays up. I will attach a picture to show you. I'm still getting light cramping tho so I think af will appear soon and disappoint me x

@laurah92 great news! When is af due? Hoping she doesn't make an appearance!

laurah92 · 04/05/2020 13:34

@raspberryjamlove I hope so 🤞🤞 af is due Thursday/Friday so it still has time to go down I guess, just have to see, if temp is still up by Wednesday then I'll do a test. How are you today? X

Hi @laurah92 I was just reading another thread and someone with a similar looking chart to yours has just got their BFP so really hoping that's an implant dip for you. The wait is awful isn't it? Still 6dpo but I also start getting that anxious feeling where you know if it isn't the result you were hoping for you know you'll feel rubbish for a few days. I really hate how it plays on my mind so much!

So I set up an account in the bbt chart you use to track there too as I prefer the chart, it's clearer I think. Here's how I'm looking today....though I'm still quite sporadic with it I think. I actually realised when I logged in today that I had taken my temp at 1am which I don't remember lol! Luckily had then retaken it when I woke up xx

Oh no @laurah92 I'm sorry :( I always have a few days of feeling so down once af arrives and then pick myself up again for the next cycle. It's tough this isn't it? How are you feeling?

I'm ok thanks been having yellow cm and paid. In left side since ovulation but tbh every cycle I think I have symptoms but in reality both times I've been pregnant I didn't know until I missed af.

Temping chart is up and down struggling with a waking toddler so don't think it's very accurate but will keep trying.

In a way I feel like with temping at least the drop in temp gives you that bit of warning a day or so early as I had it last month :( xx

@raspberryjamlove thank you, yea I'm feeling down in the dumps today, it's so hard and stressful ttc, thought it would be a bit easier than this. I'm now going onto my 4th month of trying so I guess it's still very early for me but it feels like a lifetime when it's something you really want.
Hopefully your have some good news this cycle 🤞 you can't have much longer to wait now?
Oh bless you, that seems a challenge, bet it is difficult, needs eyes at the back of your head. Yes I agree, tracking temp does help as like you said, it gives you a day or two warning that af is on the way, stops you wasting tests too, I was going to do one on Tuesday but once I saw my temp had dropped, I didn't bother and the same with this morning before af came x

Hiya
There's a lot of posts on here so don't know if you have the answer to your question, I'm tracking bbt and have done it before. I've read that as long as you take your temp after a good chunk of sleep it should be accurate, 2-4 hours sleep, ideally the same time every day. You need to stay in bed & take it as soon as you wake.
Not enough sleep beforehand & other things like alcohol can make the reading unreliable. How are you getting on? Xx

raspberryjamlove · 06/05/2020 13:45

Hi @laurah92 definitely give yourself a few days to feel rubbish. I really hate those days and the odds are I will no doubt be experiencing the same next week. I'm due on Wednesday or Thursday as I tend to have 14/15 dpo before af arrives...feels a long time!

I already did a cheapie test today at 8dpo...ridiculous but couldn't stop myself despite saying I would wait until 10 days min! I have turned into this crazy woman and I hate it!!

I will keep you updated and please do the same xx

raspberryjamlove · 06/05/2020 13:46

Thanks @newbie9 as I have a toddler who still wakes in the night I do find I'm taking my temp at different times but just doing my best with it. The chart showed my ovulation so even though I don't think it's super accurate great it can still tell me that at least! X

Newbie9 · 06/05/2020 14:17

@raspberryjamlove
Ah same I'm awake 2 or 3 times with my toddler too so it's not easy, this month my app said I ovulated and I had pains but didn't see a difference in my temp Hmm xx

laurah92 · 06/05/2020 14:46

@raspberryjamlove definitely keep me posted, hopefully this is your luckily month 🤞 I have my fingers crossed for you.
Like you said, I normally feel crappy for a few days then I get over it and get excited to try again. I've just ordered myself some more ovulation tests ready x
