Fertility treatment in 2020?!?

Hi all, I'm assuming I'm not alone, though I feel crass in asking with people dying out there... This year I'd so hoped to do fertility treatment for our second and last child, with time running out at my 37 years and my husband's 43 years... Is anyone going ahead with it in spite of Corona? Is that even possible? I'd be very worried to enter a hospital to begin treatment so maybe I'm off my rocker. We've been so responsible since this all began with self isolation beginning early etc but this makes me so sad... Anyone else Thinking about this?

My OH and I have had similar thoughts. My GP wanted to refer us to the fertility clinic back in November, but as my OH is in the Navy, he has a different GP, we had some back and forth with his GP who was arguing that my GP should order his semen analysis, until eventually his GP agreed to order it. However, he referred him to a different hospital to the one we will ultimately be treated at and that fertility clinic at first had a waiting list, then said they weren't taking on NHS patients. In February we attended an open evening at the fertility clinic we'll eventually get treatment through and they said he could just call up for an appointment and they had no waiting lists for semen analysis. We got his results back (all good news) and emailed them immediately to my GP who referred us the same day (Thursday last week). The referral email said to wait a couple of days then call the number in the email to get an appointment. We called yesterday to make the appointment, but were told that the fertility clinic has our referral and would write to us with an appointment.

Before we called we did wonder whether fertility treatments might have been included in the non-urgent operations and appointments that had previously been cancelled by the NHS. Having visited the clinic on an open evening, they have a four bed day recovery area that could be turned into additional overnight beds and the rooms they use for procedures could be adapted for more urgent use.

I suspect in my case it's just a case of us waiting for the appointment letter to come through and see what it says, it could be that they write to say things are being put off due to COVID. I'll try and remember to post in your thread with an update once I get our appointment letter.

Doubt it. Its not urgent. I need to initiate it but can't see the point in booking an appointment right now. I'm 37 with no children. But I can't change the global situation. Nightmare.

Just decided to check out the website for the clinic we were referred to and they suspended all fertility treatments a few days ago. I'm really angry at the military GP my OH has; we could have started treatment months ago if he wasn't the cause of so many unnecessary delays!

I’m really sorry ladies but I think all non urgent fertility treatments are being postponed. Example of urgent treatment is for people awaiting cancer treatment & need eggs or sperm freezing before they can undergo treatment. Dr larisa corda put something on Instagram igtv. It’s so devastating for couples who were just about to undergo treatment.

Hi I'm new on here, I've been TTC for a few years and I am currently at the pre-injections stage of my fertility treatment but due to the current crisis it's postponed. I got the cancellation call, it was so sad. I cried. But we have to be thankful to be safe because of this serious crisis out there.
