Hi,

Me and my husband decided to try and conceive in January and I have not had a period since 26th December. I have been to the doctors and my blood tests came back negative and so have the six home tests I have done.

Super confused! Just feel like it's so mean of my body to suddenly stop having periods at this particular time. Anyone been through the same thing? Desperate to know how this ends!

Did you stop hormonal contraception in January too?

When you're on hormonal contraception the regular bleeding you have aren't actually periods they're withdrawal bleeds.

For some women it can take a few months for periods and ovulation to return after stopping hormonal contraception.

I came off the pill in June and have had regular periods since then Hmm

That’s so frustrating! Have you been under any major stress or upped exercise/changed diet?

I came off the pill last June too, had a couple of normal periods and then they vanished lol. Have only had maybe 2 or 3 more since then. I figure I always used to have a long cycle n was on the pill 10 years so it's only natural the body doesnt just snap back to normal.

Not really I've always worked out 3 times a week and works work 😂 when is it not stressful? Just a pain cause that's two months of TTC wasted and who knows how many more?

Maybe stop ttc n just go back to treating it like fun. Sounds like it might be a while worth of stress otherwise.

I had a nightmare when I first came off hormonal contraception. Took me over a year to go back to normal. Would have a few months of normal, then really long periods, random missed periods etc. etc. Also had unexplained weight gain, acnr and anaemia. It's the reason I will probably never go back on hormonal contraception 😔 really made me think twice about what I was putting my body through. Hope you have a period soon!

Not knowing your age, could that be a factor? Menopause/Early menopause.

scarlettred · 02/03/2020 20:36

Hmm maybe I guess I though things were settled as I've had 6 months of normal periods.

I am 26 x

This is literally me. I came off in early last year and had normal periods up till December, used condoms as wasn't ready. All ready the end of December to conceive after my period 7th December, not had a period since!!
I've been referred to the fertility clinic because of the lack of ovulation. I've been booked in for early april so not too long of a wait.
