Pregnacare Vitamins delaying ovulation???- my experience

This is just my experience, I started pregnacare gummies just after my period Jan 8th,my periods have been regular for 10 years 28/29 days. My period did not come on time so took test, it was a BFN. A couple of people have mentioned that vitamins lengthening cycles and after a week late i made the decision to stop taking vitamins. I stopped taking them just over two weeks ago and today, CD48 my period started. I'm putting this thread up as information. Obviously I cant completely say 100% that it was the vitamins, as I am nearly 44 and it could be perimenipause, as the cause. I wonder how many others have had delayed periods due to vitamins?

@ylladyoll I did. I took them in december, I wasnt tracking ovulation but it made my period a whole week late, cd40! It's never been that long before! So I stopped taking them and went back to normal wellwoman and had a normal 31 day cycle in Jan.

Teacaketotty · 25/02/2020 10:41

My cycle definitely changed when I took them, I was 26. I ended up stopping them altogether as they made things so unpredictable - got pregnant a couple months later.

I think this is important information to put out there as being so late causes upset when you are getting BFN, many people will say it cant be the vitamins, how can they change cycles, but there are lots of info on the internet saying so. I did conclude to myself it was likely the vitamins as these pee tests are so good at detecting HCG now. I never got a squinter on the 9 tests I took.

Agreed, my period was at least a week late which really got my hopes up! Definitely won’t be taking them again! I used boots own brand and no issues.

paintfairy · 25/02/2020 15:48

I've used the well woman normal ones no issues. But I didn't dare try the pregnacare ones. I use boots own with no issues.

If they are lengthening luteal phase then that might be a good thing. But if delaying ovulation then no!

BuffaloCauliflower · 25/02/2020 15:57

But why would they do this? I’ve been taking Pregnacare and haven’t noticed any obvious difference. I wouldn’t mind my luteal phase being a bit longer though!

After 10 years of a regular never late period,I start taking vitamins and my period goes AWOL, massive coincidence? 20 days late is no joke, I felt properly massively bloated and horrible. I think they need to investigate it imho. I feel better today now AF has started, hoping it's not going to a horrible AF xx been in bed most of the day tho xx

Made mine late too, by like 2 to 3 days and I’m never usually late.

Rhian12345 · 20/12/2020 22:17

I have always had regular periods too and have been using clear blue fertility tests which have been identifying my night fertile and peak fertile days. However I started taking taking pregnacare this month and for some reason my clearblue fertility test hasn’t showed that I’ve had a peak day this month and continues to show ‘highly fertile days. I’ve seen some people say that these vitamins have caused this problem to others. I was really hoping to conceive this month too 😩

Hi 🙋🏼‍♀️ late to the discussion I know.
I am in the same boat! Feeling really angry. I am now CD 32 and I normally am 27-30 d cycle girl.
They have stopped me ovulating Daffodil The reason I believe it is pregnacare. I had my coil removed end of April. Confirmed ovulation 2 weeks after and had a short period end of may. Then I decided to start taking them as I thought they may help me establish cycles after the coil and ended up having a 64 day cycle!!! I went a whole month without ovulation. And then I stopped taking them. And began having regular cycles. At the time I put it down to my coil had just been removed and my body wasn’t ready.

BUT

Currently my last period 30/11/2020. I started taking pregnacare again from cd2 and again now no ovulation! When I realised by cd22 I hadn’t ovulated again I stopped taking them! I’m so angry. Why can they have this affect. It’s hard enough TTC without this.
I’m just gonna stick to folic acid now! Lesson learnt!

Birchtree4 · 31/12/2020 12:45

I use pregnacare with no issues

Louann17 · 31/12/2020 14:31

I have no doubt there will be many people that get on fine with pregnacare. Everyone’s different.
It’s just a shame that it can have these unwanted outcomes on some. 😭
