Cough medicine in TWW? Urgent advice needed

Hi ladies,
I have been having head cold for a few days, however i am now coughing quite terribly too. We're TTC and i know that pregnant women should stay away from cough medicines or other medicines.
However i think am in the TWW and don't know if i am pregnant... can't tell what dpo either because of the illness messing up my charting. I think i ovulated on the day when I started having sore throat, about 5 days ago.
Should i take cough sirup and potentially cause problems for implantation? Or is it fine because the fertilised embryo (if it is there) is not connected via placenta to me etc.?
Did anyone have this dilemma and got any good advice? Thanks

Cough medicines are pointless. Just have a teaspoon of honey.
Good luck on the 2ww.

I'd just have some lemon and honey in boiled water, it works better.
Also I've always had a cold in the TWW and ended up with a BFP so good luck!

Honestly I think you are over thinking it, I drank wine ate rare steak and took ibropfufen and it make no difference to my DS or DD. As far as I was concerned I wasn’t pregnant.

Amazing, thanks for sharing ladies. I feel much better just by reading this! I am probably overthinking it... we've been trying for almost a year now and made really good effort this month!
I made onion&honey sirup and will do the lemon& honey 'tea' too. Fingers crossed for the cough to be over by the BFP shows up! 😍🙌

I'll second what @Iliketonamechangealot9876542 said, until you have a positive test it's purely hypothetical. Even if you were pregnant is so SO tiny at this point and you don't even share a blood stream until after the placenta forms which is week6-8 (off the top of my head).

I've had three babies and I always say "all bets are off until I see the second line!"
