Just a fed up of BFNs and TTC

Hi All,

Not sure what I'm looking for really, maybe just a little moan and to hear from some other ladies in the same position.

TTC cycle 8 as of Valentines day , lovely day for AF to show up. I'm 35 soon so not a spring chicken and getting more worried this just isn't going to happen for us. Most of my close friends have children already and we're getting the classic 'when are you both going to think about children, time's getting on' etc.

I do think TTC is the most frustrating thing , that 2nd week in the TWW I get so stressed and moody. I wish I could just try but forget about until one day you realise your prego by chucking up or realising your 2 weeks late.

Anyone else in the same / similar boat feel free to moan along!

I'm TTC #1 and currently on cycle 5 so a wee bit behind you but still far enough in to be frustrated. Every month I'm 'trying something new' (e.g. this month I've totally given up caffeine and going on a walk once a day) and get myself totally convinced that this will be the thing that makes it happen...and then the devastation of another BFN just wipes me out for about a day. My husband is so excited and every month I feel like I'm totally letting him down (which I objectively know I'm not as I can't do anything about it) but I still feel so rubbish every time it happens. Argh! Hoping desperately this month will be our month! Blarghhh

Have you been to the GP? I'm in my 30s too and will be going once I reach six months of trying, which is actually what they say for 35 and over. I would definitely get the ball rolling with tests.

@guiltyfeminist1 thanks for the reply, We're TTC number 1 as well. I know what your mean about feeling guilty. My DH doesn't really say much about it , I think he doesn't think about it much but he was sad this month that it was another BFN. Feel like you're letting them down.

Walks and giving up caffeine is sensible. I've switched to decaf as going without is so hard! Done clearblue OPKs which always go to a solid smiley on CD14 but NADA.

Fingers and toes crossed for us this cycle, I'm going to try and lose 1/2 stone and see if that triggers anything. What CD are you?

@peachypetite no not yet, I work in healthcare myself so know the score and TBH I'm not ready to put myself through potential HSG/surgery yet. We've said if nothing happens at 10 cycles we will go and start the ball rolling with tests though :)

I'm CD 9. It's so stupid but I just get so frustrated every month around this time and I wish the days away until ovulation and then wish the days away until my period. It's not that I don't enjoy the days in between, but I do feel like I don't ever quite forget that I'm TTC iyswim. I'm trying to lose weight too - I'm not massively overweight but I'm hoping that a wee weight loss might tip the scales? How're you getting on this month, meow?

Hi Guilty,

Totally get what you mean it’s so horrible feeling like you’re wishing your life away isn’t it. Same here my BMi is about 27 so some work to do but not terrible 😆 - says me currently looking for leftover Xmas chocolate 😂 I’m CD4 and already wishing the week way until the fertile window 🤦‍♀️.

My BMI is about 26/7 too! Twins! I'd like to shift a couple of pounds but also feeding my frustration with crunchies and cookies so...unlikely to happen anytime soon! Ha ha!

MrsMeow2019 · 20/02/2020 20:22

@guiltyfeminist1 How is your week going ?

Ditto, I've just had a bag of crisps and some dairymilk. Weight loss month isn't going well so far!

My week has been busy with work which is good really :). Have made a spa date with some friends in March which I'm looking forward to though secretly hoping I ahve to avoid the Jacuzzi !

I feel this at the moment. Feel really disheartened and fed up with it all to be honest and sick of seeing stark white every month.

Currently I'm a week late for AF (never happened before) but of course for me a late period doesn't mean pg, it's just BFN after BFN.

Hard to stay positive sometimes
