Very Strong Positive OPK 3 days after period ??!

Hi girls, I decided after my last period that I was going to start testing using opks and I literally finished my period 2/3 days ago and the first test is from around 3pm this afternoon and the second one like an hour ago ... I've used opks before and never got this dark of a line and I'm just confused as to why I'm ovukating so early in my cycle when my cycles are between 28-30 days.

Have you done w pregnancy test ?

Lmac2018 · 13/02/2020 12:27

Not yet, I only have one so I didn't want to waste it until I was a bit more sure

Only time i got strong opk outside ovulation was my pregnancy... so i would do it!!!
But the opk should be positive though

Lmac2018 · 13/02/2020 13:27

It won't let me send photos of the tests! But I took 3 yesterday and they were all darker than the control line and came up well before the control line. And them today the test line came up first and was darker than the control line.

I don't know if the camera is good enough but all of the test lines are darker than the control line

Definitely try a pregnancy test.

Icouldstillbejoseph · 13/02/2020 13:45

But the OP has just finished her period... was the period normal OP?

Lmac2018 · 13/02/2020 13:50

I didn't really have horrible cramps that k usually get, I'm usually bed bound with cramps. And the first day was a massive clot that came out and then after that day it was just Brown discharge. But I don't want to get my hopes up... As j was 1 day late before I got my period, I would say it was different but I just don't want to wish on it too much to be disappointed

I was like you and didnt want to get my hopes up but it can happen... if the ovulation tests are not going down within two days defo do the pregnancy test

Lmac2018 · 13/02/2020 13:54

I definitely will! I just only have 1 and don't want to use it to be disappointed... how far along were you when you found out? And how many days did you have a positive ovulation test for?

Lmac2018 · 13/02/2020 14:31

Also my apps said I don't ovukate until next Tuesday so I'm just a bit confused

I was i think 15 dpo so 4 weeks when the test was positive but had a negative test one week before

Lmac2018 · 13/02/2020 15:53

Ah right, I did test a day before my 'period' and it was negative, then had the bleed and then had on and off cramps even after my period then did a ovulation test and strong positive

@Lmac2018 the only time I got a darker test line than the control one on the opk was when I was pregnant. Good luck!

Lmac2018 · 13/02/2020 22:11

Is it possible when I just had a period though??

OP posts:
bitheby · 13/02/2020 22:15

No. But if it wasn't a period then it's possible. But you won't know unless you test. And we definitely won't know.

maria2bela · 14/02/2020 08:00

It is possible if your bleed wasn't actually a period but something else! When I'm ovulating the test line gets as dark as control line but when I did one when I was pregnant it was much darker than control line like yours. Take a frer x

Lmac2018 · 14/02/2020 14:20

I took a test last night nd it was negative so I think I'm just ovulating x

I have had this the last two months (that I am aware of because I didn't test prior to those) as well. Did you take more OPKS later? I get a strong positive 2/3 days after my period but it will go negative by that afternoon/evening. I don't have any other symptoms of O though. I don't believe this is a true O. I then get more positive OPKs at the time I would expect to O and they will stay positive for 36-48hrs. I will also have other symptoms, EWCM, pain, etc. This is a true O I believe. I even got another positive a few days after this incident but it was like the first one, very short and without symptoms. LH can fluctuate quite a bit throughout the cycle without releasing an egg.

Lmac2018 · 14/02/2020 15:41

I had 2 days of VERY strong positives then today I've tested about an hour ago and it's a negative. So I have no clue because this is my first time using these tests as I usually go on my app. I'm glad I didn't though because of be a week out

OP posts:
Lmac2018 · 14/02/2020 15:42

And I had a few little cramps over the time I had the positives so I'm not sure wether it was ovulation cramps or just in my head

calimommy · 14/02/2020 16:11

If you can, perhaps test for the rest of the month? Then you will get a clearer idea of what is going on in your cycle. From what I understand, early ovulation isn't good for conceiving because the egg is too immature to fertilise. I'm sure someone else will have more knowledge than me though. But if that was the case and you continued without conception, you would have a good history of information to show a dr.

Have you ever had checks done for pcos?
