Should I cancel fertility appointment?

Hi All.

Just looking for some advice.

MMC this time last year and not a sniff of a bfp since....until Saturday (day AF was due). I was so excited but obviously cautious after the previous loss. I waited 48 hours and tested again and the line is fainter.

Because it has been over 12 months since we started trying, I was referred to a fertility specialist and the appointment is this Wednesday.

I really don't know whether to phone and cancel or hold off until tomorrow when I could test again and see if the line is darker or lighter. I'm scared that if I cancel and this pregnancy fails, I'll have to wait another three months for a referral but I don't want to mess the NHS about.

I was feeling really positive about this but after a previous loss, I can't take it for granted.

I’d go to the appointment. But best of luck, and congratulations Flowers

I would keep the appointment, They may be able to do the checks for you x

Definitely keep the appointment. They may be able to do a HCG blood test for you and with your backstory I am sure they will be sympathetic. You don’t want to end up going back to the bottom of the waiting list.

I would also keep the appointment - I had a similar situation except got a BFP on the day I was due to collect all the IVF medication - I spoke to the clinic and they just said just to "rearrange" the collection so it would look like I was waiting another cycle and only to notify them of not wishing to continue once i was comfortable that we would have a successful pregnancy (I had a miscarriage at 13 weeks before this)

Thanks all, its such a relief to get some second opinions.
Would you tell them about the pregnancy or play dumb?
I haven't told DH yet - was going to tell him on Saturday as we have an evening out planned and thought it would be a nice surprise.

@itwasalovelydreamwhileitlasted I hope it all worked out for you! Nothing like keeping us on our toes!

@Confuseddotcommm - no, I definitely don't!

That pregnant did work out for us thankyou!

I would only tell them if they were going to give you a test on the day which might be harmful - eg the HSG test can cause miscarriage HOWEVER highly unlikely they'll do anything at this appointment other than maybe a blood test and take information - you have to wait for the appointment letters in the post for the other tests they do.
