How many weeks old is my baby?

I have recently found out I am pregnant and I used the NHS due date calculator (it asked for the first day of my last period the 31/12/2019). It says I am due on the 6/10/2020 and I know I ovulated on the 15/01/2020 (due to taking an ovulation test).

I downloaded some pregnancy apps and they all say I am 5 weeks pregnant and showing me pictures of what my baby would look like and it’s development.

Is this right? Surely I am only just in my 3rd/4th week? Yet the NHS calculator makes me seem further along...

Super confused and trying not to stress about it as I want the baby to implant! I assume this may be happening as I am having cramping pains like a period but not Confused

The general working out for gestation is based on your last period. So even when you ovulate, you’re technically 2 weeks pregnant at this point, therefore 4 weeks pregnant around the time AF is due.

Hello! Congratulations!! That sounds right to me. The apps etc usually count your weeks along by the start date of your last period. My last period was 4th Jan, ovu 17th and due date estimated at 9 Oct so my app has me 4 weeks + 5. It's confusing as you're counted as pregnant before you even concieve :)

Gestation is calculated from first day of last period, confusing as before conception so not how old baby is. So 5 weeks is correct, good luck
