How to balance hormones naturally

Hi everyone, was wondering if anyone has any advice/has been in the same situation.

I have long cycles, sometimes anovulatory, between 30-50 days. I fell pregnant in August and miscarried in October at 7+5 weeks. I have history of acne and have hirsutism but my hormone levels are within range. I have been off all hormonal birth control for 4 years and track ovulation with BBT and, more recently, cervical fluid and OPKs. I tend to ovulate between CD24 and CD35. Luteal phase 13 days.

Saw a fertility specialist today and they said they'd put me on Clomid after trying for a year. But is there a way of balancing my hormones naturally? I'm already taking 400mg folic acid and 1000iu vitamin D, have cut caffeine totally, don't smoke or drink alcohol, eat organic fruit, veg, dairy, eggs and meat, and have now cut refined carbs and sugars.

If anyone could share any tips, I would be beyond grateful.

B-vitamins! Procieve and Procieve max have good levels in them, or Wild Nutririin Fertility.

Focus on egg health too, so read It Starts with the Egg.

A pregnancy safe fish oil.

And treat yourself to relaxing things such as acupuncture if that’s your thing.

Have you had your thyroid tested?

Peanutty86 · 04/02/2020 19:55

Yes there is!!! Agnus castus! Google it. It's a natural 'fertility booster'.

Trying2019 · 04/02/2020 20:15

Not tried agnus cactus but heard good things. They call it the natural clomid it should help you ovulate. Only take it from cycle day 1 to ovulation. I have heard pregnacare can lengthen your cycle which you dont want. X

@Livingmagicallyagain thank you so much for the recommendations. I'm reading it starts with the egg, which is making me think I need loads of vitamins but the fertility specialist yesterday said I only need vitamin d and folic acid 🤨 I'm sure she's wrong as the book recommends so much more! I've had my thyroid tested and all fine that end. X

@Peanutty86 thank you for your reply, I've looked into it. I'm going to go a few months without Agnus I think then discuss it with my gp as I've also heard good things x

@Trying2019 hi thanks for replying. I'll look into it, and yes I've heard the same with pregnacare. I took Zita West Vitafem for a few months which I thought was good but my bloods came back as way too high in vitamin b12 and a few others so was advised to stay away from pre-conception pills. This is such a minefield! I wish what worked for one worked for all! X

@danielasummer what were your results? Mine were not picked up by GP but were actually quite off for TTC. T3 was causing issues, as well as TSH.

Angus castus didn’t do much for me but I still took it!

Livingmagicallyagain · 05/02/2020 09:04

*Agnus

danielasummer · 05/02/2020 09:24

Hi @Livingmagically again, my TSH was 1.11 and Free T4 was 13.3 I didn't have T3 done, should I have had it done? What were your levels?

Google “optimal thyroid levels” to check what yours should be but they look fine! My TSH was 4.5! Way too high! It’s fine now.

Fredthespider · 05/02/2020 20:18

It's ok for your B12 levels to be high as you should just pee out any excess. I was trying since June, started taking pregnacare and a complex b vitamin in January and just got my BFP.

calimommy · 05/02/2020 20:32

I took whopping big doses of Angus Castus to help get rid of my continued spotting when I stopped BF DS2 and I fell pregnant with DS3 the same month. I'm using it now to see if it will work again!

mamansnet · 05/02/2020 20:48

My doctor told me to avoid cow products (especially cheese) as they're so pumped full of hormones yo produce as much milk as possible.

Rybenka · 05/02/2020 21:33

Ladies, those of you who tried Agnus Castus - how much did you actually take? I read various amounts of recommended daily dose, depending on the brand... thanks

calimommy · 05/02/2020 21:44

Re Agnus Castus, I took buckets of it haha, I think 6000mg per day. This time I'm taking it twice per day, 3000 per dose.

Cotswoldmama · 05/02/2020 21:54

I used agnus castus I had really long periods after coming off the pill and two periods later I was pregnant
