No Period and breastfeeding 5month old

Hi I have a 5month old and partially breastfeeding. My Period is normally on time since having my daughter. My last period was 3rd January and the next one was supposed to be 31st January. Normally have 28day cycle. My period is 2days late. I feel bloated, tired, breasts feel fuller despite breastfeeding, cramping, lower back pain, heartburn and a few headaches. Which I normally get when I'm pregnant. I did a clear blue test 2nd Feb as that was the only test I had and came back negative. I've checked online and I should be on 16DPO. With my last pregnancy I had a faint positive on 10DPO and got a strong positive on 13DPO. I have a feeling breastfeeding is messing with my body but don't also want to rule out it could be pregnancy. I'm waiting it out till Tuesday to test if not the weekend if my period doesn't come. Has anyone ever experienced this.

Hi,
I have experienced similar to this. I didn't have a period until EBF DS was 7 months, then when he was 10 months my period just didn't come. I felt all the symptoms and was convinced I was pregnant again. Turns out my body wasn't coping well with exhausted/lack of time to eat and my periods had stopped from stress and my breasts were adjusting to DS's increased appetite. I wasn't pregnant, just really not looking after myself. With time and self-care and eating properly my periods came again when DS was 12 months. Babies are a huge adjustment and take a toll on our bodies! If this sounds like something you could have going on, please take care of yourself.

Thanks for responding, but wow I'm sorry you went through that must of been hard. But I can see what you mean. I haven't been stressed, breastfeeding is pretty much the same and sleep as well apart from over sleeping. My eating habits have gone bad tho. I have been skipping meals but that's pretty normal with me, I've been skipping meals since I was kid. I'm going to give it a week and see how if my period comes. Otherwise doctors it is. The latest I've gone over my period is 2-3days. So today hopefully it comes. But will see.

@SandyN89 No problem and I hope it helps you. I didn't think breastfeeding had changed but obviously the bigger baby gets the more milk they take per feed so it can be hard to keep up. DS is now 13 months and still has a fair amount of feeds but I definitely make more milk for him.

Please look after yourself. I know it's so hard with a little one, and I don't know if you have support? I'm a single mum and take no shame from getting my calories in anyway I can, and quick microwave meals are my go to on busy days. I see it as at least I'm eating and that's what matters.

I hope all is well soon! Sorry if I'm wrong I just wanted to say I experienced similar but there wasn't a baby on the way. Also I highly recommend breastfeeding multivitamins if you don't take them. Any brand but not normal multivitamins as they contain too much vitamin A that can be passed in your milk to baby. I found they made a huge difference in my health.
