Dtd on O day -success stories?

Hi ladies!

Unfortunately I never had the opportunity to dtd on the run up to my high fertile period however did manage to dtd the morning I ovulated. I've read countless pages that say your best chances are dtd just before ovulation for greater success.

I'm just wondering if there are any success stories on here of people only managing to dtd on ODay and still managed to get BFP?

How do you know for certain the day u ovulated?

HighlandMam1 · 31/01/2020 18:05

Hi @Ele38

I use ovulation testing which shows a peak when hormone surge happens and I experience a slightly uncomfortable pain on my lower left side during ovulation. I have a very regular cycle and have been fortunate with this since I started my period many years ago!

Once you get a positive opk test you ovulate between 12-36 hours later so when I got my positive opk I dtd that day and next 2 days and now 27 weeks pregnant. Good luck. X

Congratulations. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Just gutted I missed our high fertility days due to working shifts this week! It's not easy this whole timing game!

I DTD on ovulation day and 3 days prior - 100% know it was ovulation day. I caught that month but sadly ended in a chemical - it is possible!

ShowOfHands · 03/02/2020 17:03

DS was conceived first month of trying. I had sex on the day I ovulate and only once that entire month.

Twitchett22 · 03/02/2020 18:23

I thought the day of ovulation and a day each side were when you're most fertile? Have I been timing it all wrong? 😬

HighlandMam1 · 04/02/2020 00:01

@twitchitt22 I've read that you're more likely to conceive if you dtd prior to ovulating. That way the sperm is pretty much ready and waiting as soon as the egg is released.

Thanks for your positive messages. I'm keeping everything crossed and can test from the 13th so I will most likely start going crazy by the end of the week and start symptom spotting!!

How did it go?

Mustrryharder · 07/02/2020 17:32

I was very poorly in december over my predicted fertile period (around 17th-20th) and therefore didn't dtd. When i felt better i did a random ovulation test on 28th which was really high, did another on the 29th which was my surge and dtd on that day, the only time that month, and i am now pregnant Grin. So yes it can happen and it was a great surprise after 9 months of very active trying!

HighlandMam1 · 07/02/2020 18:47

@mansah2 I'm due to test on Friday so I'll let you know then! 🤞🏼😁

We DTD the day I got my flashing smiley last month and that was it, I am now pregnant.

We had DTD a few times way too early, as firstly went by the dates on my app. Then after using opks found out I ovulated later than expected.

It was our first month TTC so we were very lucky.

mini84 · 08/02/2020 11:09

Thanks for this thread I feel a bit cheated this month today is the first day of apparent fertile window (should have been ideal over the weekend) but I've just started to get ovulation pain Sad

HighlandMam1 · 08/02/2020 14:57

@charlottees89 I'm so pleased to read another positive outcome and it's definitely giving me hope!!

I'm obviously symptom spotting like crazy at the moment but so far I've only had a couple of potential symptoms. All of a sudden feeling very nauseous while in the car, slight bleeding gums (I see the dentist regularly and have no issues there normally) and I don't know if the last one is totally bonkers or not but around 6dpo I had the strangest niggling sensations in my lower abdomen. I felt almost like air bubbles popping or something along those lines like flutters. I didn't just have wind either 😂 would love to know if anyone else ever experienced these or if I'm just going mad symptom spotting 🙈

Oh @mini84 hopefully you managed to dtd within the recommended time frame! I'm glad this thread is useful. I'm always worried I'll sound daft on these threads so it's a relief to know I'm not the only one fretting over dates and timings!

@HighlandMam1 how are you feeling? Are you still planning to test Friday?
Yes my fingers are crossed what little happened was enough!
I'll have to wait another week for an early test.
Good luck for Friday!

HighlandMam1 · 12/02/2020 11:31

Hi @mini84

I'm a little unsure whether I'm going to test on Friday now or wait and see if AF arrives on Monday. I'm feeling good, still symptom spotting like crazy but beginning to wonder if they're maybe AF signs but who knows! How are you feeling? Any positive signs yet?

OP posts:
mini84 · 12/02/2020 19:45

I don't really know what symptoms to look for but anything different gets me wondering! I am bloated that I could look 6 months pregnant but other than that everything seems normal.
I do always plan on waiting for AF but when it gets closer I just want to know and end up wasting doing a test!
