An introduction to this thread. It has been running for many years and has proved a saviour for so many of us who have suffered recurrent miscarriages as we go through this incredibly tough journey.

Discussions cover NK (natural killer) cells, thyroid issues, PGS and many many more.

Welcome to the group no-one wants to be in

@FrannyAnny82 not saying this to make you feel better but the line looks like it’s progressively getting darker to me based on those pics. It was barely there yesterday AM & now it’s pretty clear. Keeping everything crossed xx

HarrietM87 · 01/03/2020 18:08

@FrannyAnny82 that’s great progression! I’d be reassured if I were you.

FrannyAnny82 · 01/03/2020 18:58

@HarrietM87 @Crystal2020 Thanks for looking and for the reassurance. This would be my fifth early loss/chemical in just over a year so I'm a paranoid wreck! I'm going to lie still and do nothing until tomorrow morning and hope it sticks. Thinking of you all tonight and hoping we all get the breaks we deserve.

And good luck this week @KittyKatSmile! xx

Eeviee · 01/03/2020 20:07

@KtAgs welcome to the group, I'm so sorry to read about your losses, it’s jist heartbreaking 💔 I really hope that Dr S will be able to shed some light. The testing he does is really comprehensive so think you’re doing the right thing.
@Gooe welcome! I'm so sorry to hear about your losses too 😢, but glad you felt you could reach out and hopefully we can support you.

Congratulations @HarrietM87, will you go for intralipids this week? @FrannyAnny82, that line does look like it's getting darker, I really hope this is a sticky one 🍀

@KittyKatSmile keep us updated, very exciting!

@EmsIMO I've been thinking exactly the same as you as since starting the complex plan I've been struggling to fall pregnant, but I've been too scared to stop taking the medications, maybe the suggestion of 20mg would be worth a try?

So I got a BFP on Saturday! I tested last wed which I thought was 10 DPO and got BFN, tested again Saturday and got a BFP! I have been desperate to get pregnant again but now that I am, Im feeling terrified. But I’m remembering @KittyKatSmile mantra ‘today I am pregnant’, I’m calling the clinic tomorrow to get intralipids booked in and hoping and praying that this time will be different. X

Gooe · 01/03/2020 20:21

Thanks @Luckyducky2 for your message. I'm sorry for your losses too. Christmas can be such a hard time can't it. It's the most saddest thing. I really appreciate your message. All we can do is hope the treatments work for all of us x

@KittyKatSmile thanks for the warm welcome x I have been following your journey and I am so happy for you. Not long to go now x Amazing x

Hi @HarrietM87 - fingers and toes crossed for you x

@KtAgs Hi! Thanks for sharing your story. It really helped me reach out. Thanks so much x

Also a hello to all the ladies on this group. You're all so lovely and helpful. Will keep everyone updated if anything changes with me. Would love to hear from anyone who is currently taking the hydroxy treatment or has done so in the past. X

Goodluck to everyone in this group x

Gooe · 01/03/2020 20:25

Hi @Eeviee didn't mean to miss you out. Thanks for welcoming me into the group. Thank you for your message and support. X

FrannyAnny82 · 01/03/2020 20:45

Congratulations @Eeviee that is the best news!! I have everything crossed for you! 🤞X

Crystal2020 · 01/03/2020 21:18

Wow @Eeviee that’s such good news! Delighted for you. Just goes to show how early 10 dpo is to be testing. Feels like it’s all going on in this group this weekend! So lovely to hear about. X

HarrietM87 · 01/03/2020 21:29

Congrats @Eeviee! I should be going in for intralipids this week - never really felt like they did anything and I was considering waiting until post 6 weeks and a successful scan (had them at 4 weeks in my last pregnancy and still miscarried). But I’m sure I will cave in if I get a good line on the test tomorrow. Might see you there!

Gooe · 01/03/2020 23:18

And also... congratulations @Eeviee! Great news! X

mezgaski · 02/03/2020 19:12

@FrannyAnny82 I think you’ve got good live progression there - keeping everything crossed for you.

@Eeviee fantastic news too!

@HarrietM87 how are you getting on?

I’m at Mr S for a scan on Thursday When I should be 7+2 & intralipids afterwards. I’m assuming if the scan isn’t good news then I don’t do the intralipid? I’m so nervous & terrified it’s going to go wrong again but trying to stay positive after our good scan at epu last week. It’s such a rollercoaster of emotions x

HarrietM87 · 02/03/2020 19:35

Just got this which I think is a good line for 13dpo (period is due tomorrow) and it’s definitely darker than my tests on Friday and Saturday so hanging on in there! In for intralipids on Friday.

Immune/NK Issues - aka Pred Thread no 24!
HarrietM87 · 02/03/2020 19:47

PS @mezgaski if it’s not good news at the scan you won’t have the intralipids, but I don’t think you need to worry about that! With every positive scan the risk goes down significantly, but totally understand the scanxiety!

I’m trying to decide whether to try to get into my local EPU for an early scan this time before seeing Mr S - my last one with him was bad news and I still feel traumatised. In a way the fact the EPU is less personal somehow makes it better.

FrannyAnny82 · 02/03/2020 20:10

That's a great line @HarrietM87! Congratulations!

Mine got a bit darker this morning, if it still looks goodish tomorrow then I'll go get the intralipids.

I know I sound crazy but now crapping my pants about catching the coronavirus with a steroid-weakened immune system. So many worries! 😬😬

How are you getting on @Eeviee? X

mezgaski · 02/03/2020 20:26

@HarrietM87 line looks very good to me 👍🏻
That’s how I felt about epu scanning me first but I’m also a very long way from Epsom too so had to factor that in. Do whatever reduces your anxiety down xx

@FrannyAnny82 glad your line is darker x

Eeviee · 03/03/2020 06:19

Thankyou for tor kind messages ladies 😊
I’m ok thanks, am booked on for my first intralipids today so started the long trek at 4am from the north of Scotland to get to London!

@FrannyAnny82 how are you doing? Will go go for the intralipids this week? Me too am a bit worried about corona, was quite happy hiding away in Scotland!!

@HarrietM87 that’s a good line! Glad you’re booked in for intralipids. X

Eeviee · 03/03/2020 06:21

@mezgaski good luck for Thursday, it is a total rollercoaster- all we can do is take one day at a time and hope that this time is different. X

Wishing5tar · 03/03/2020 08:02

Congrats @Eeviee & good luck with Intralipids today! I agree the lines are getting darker too @FrannyAnny82 ☺️

Hi @Gooe - I’m on Dr S’s hydroxy plan, is there anything specific you want to know?

Another BFN for me this month & AF arrived whilst I was at the spa on Sunday for an early birthday present so that was delightful 😩 Just focusing on my next appointment with Dr S on 18th March and going to ask to try super ovulation. Feeling very deflated not knowing why I’m not falling pregnant now.

Does anyone feel like their weight affects ttc? My bmi is slightly higher than I’d like it to be (the joys of being on Pred for nearly a year & the appetite that comes with it 😂) but I’ve had miscarriages when I was at my lowest weight so maybe my weight isn’t a contributing factor? I do personal training twice a week and try to eat a balanced diet but I’m just not 100% in the weight loss mind frame. I got back into slimming world in January- early feb and lost 11.5lb so I know I can do it but it just seems like a lot of energy that I don’t have. I guess I’m asking though because if you all say my bmi should absolutely be in the healthy range then I’ll get back on it! Also has Dr S ever advised anyone to loose weight? I know he gives his warning about weight gain when starting the Pred but I’m wondering if it’s something he considers.

Happy Tuesday ladies xx

HarrietM87 · 03/03/2020 08:07

@FrannyAnny82 I’m worried about Coronavirus too! Presumably if we’re on pred we’re immune-suppressed and therefore at risk??

Good luck today @Eeviee!

@Wishing5tar what’s your bmi? I think if it’s within normal range there’s no need to worry, but I guess if you’re overweight it probably doesn’t hurt to try to lose a bit. I feel your pain with the pred - I gained loads in my first pregnancy and am still half a stone more than my pre-pregnancy weight almost 2 years on. Going to try a lot harder this time if things work out!

EmsIMO · 03/03/2020 10:27

Hey @ginandtonicformeplease and @Chickjen - Good idea re reduced dose, I am seeing Mr S this week so will chat to him about that.

Congrats @Eeviee ! X

Eeviee · 03/03/2020 12:05

@Wishing5tar thankyou 😘 I’m sorry to hear you got a BFN, it’s so deflating, especially on your birthday. When I asked him if steroids stopped people getting pregnant he said rubbish, yes it seems to have that effect on many of us. Maybe Dr S will suggest SO for you?
If your BMI is within healthy range I wouldn’t worry too much, the only thing I wouldn’t do is go low fat as you need good quality fat to make all your hormones. X

FrannyAnny82 · 03/03/2020 12:48

Hi @Eeviee that is a trek and a half for you! My test got a bit darker so I'm on my way for the intralipids now, might see you there! I'll be the one in an anti-corona hazmat suit 🤣

I asked my doctor about the virus this morning and she said the pred does make us more at risk but that it only lowers the immune system slightly, not to the levels of say a 70-80 year old.

How are you doing today @HarrietM87?

So sorry about the BFN @Wishing5tar. And on your bloody birthday too. I've heard good things about Dr S's super O plan though! And it might set your mind at rest having your follicles monitored etc. Meanwhile, I hope you have planned an entire birthday week of fun for yourself xx

Crystal2020 · 03/03/2020 13:08

Good luck with the intralipids today @Eeviee and @FrannyAnny82. Do you feel totally fine after having them or do they wipe you out?! X

HarrietM87 · 03/03/2020 13:10

@FrannyAnny82 that’s good news re corona...ish! I saw today that the govt expects cases to peak in 3 months so might be weaning off the pred by then 🤣

I’m fine thanks. Last couple of days have had some nausea and was feeling really positive about that (didn’t have any in my pregnancy with my son and I know pred masks it) but I feel good today. It’s awful how you second guess everything. My bfp was at 3+1 so I’m not even 4 weeks pregnant yet...will arrange an early scan for w/c 23 March which seems an age to wait.

Good luck with the intralipids!

LockThatFridge · 03/03/2020 13:32

Congratulations on the bfps!
This happened to me today. I didn’t test until 2 days late because the last time I tested early it was a chemical and I’ve had nothing for months. I’m terrified. My consultant said that due to Graves my miscarriage risk is high. I need to go to the drs in the next couple of weeks anyway to get my bloods done so I guess I now need to do it sooner than later. At least it explains the horrible nausea for the last few days.
