Early, short period and pregnancy symptoms

Anyone experience this before? My af is usually here CD30 and occasionally a day or two late but NEVER early. This month I got cramps and bleeding started CD25. That was 2 days ago, now it’s almost completely gone just 2 days later. Seemed normal flow/colour wise other than some pink creamy CM that morning before af starting in the evening. Don’t usually get that!

I was convinced I might be pg this month. All the symptoms- sore boobs, heartburn, so tired, waking up loads at night. Now I’m out and 5 days before I even planned to test. What is going on?!!

Any of your experiences or advice welcome.

The exact same thing has happened to me this past month. My periods are ALWAYS on time to the exact day and have always been.

My period was slightly heavy and bright red with tiny clots?

I’ve also not been sleeping well at all, heartburn, tiredness.

No idea what’s going on and I haven’t taken a pregnancy test (didn’t even think about taking one)

Anyone have any advice or idea what it might be?

ElizabethBennet3rd · 30/01/2020 18:52

Surely someone must have experienced this. Starting to wonder if it means getting pg will be harder? Is there something wrong with me??!

Anyone? Driving myself insane googling stuff! Surely there’s experience out there?

Do you know when you ovulated? AF usually comes around 14 days after. As long as that's the case, the is no problem. A really short luteal phase might be a problem though.
Often we ovulate different days, so that dictates when AF comes. Having said that- I've had a very strange month this month too and I do know when I ovulated. It still doesn't follow my normal pattern though. I think TTC plays with hormones a bit.

It was definitely your period though, and not implantation bleeding?

ElizabethBennet3rd · 01/02/2020 11:41

Thank you for replying @paintfairy.

At this point I can’t tell if it was af or not. I’ve read that implantation bleeding is not that long or heavy (only a medium flow but definitely more than spotting). But it was too soon for af. I think the bleeding started at 9-10DPO but don’t use opk, so maybe not 100% accurate. I judge ov by ewcm and cramping that I always get.

I’m just so confused it’s driving me bonkers!

Implantation bleeding seems to vary. From nothing to something that people mistake as a period. So it could be. You'll only know if it was- if AF doesn't come and you are pregnant.

Racoonworld · 01/02/2020 15:39

It could have been implantation bleeding. If you still have sore boobs and other symptoms now, after your 'AF' has finished, it may be possible. Have you taken a test?

ElizabethBennet3rd · 01/02/2020 16:52

@Racoonworld The symptoms now are really odd, like a twinge in the boobs now and then rather than my usual ache I get before af. Also having odd little pulling pains around belly button and sharp shooting like pains very low down. I say ‘pains’ but really more annoying than painful. A little achy in lower back and tops of legs too. It’s all strange.

Tested 2 days ago and got BFN. I guess that’s the most likely anyway, but just no explanation for how I’m feeling or why af would be so early and so short. Feeling very fed up.

I am having similar issues this month! I usually have long cycles and last months was 35 days I think. I started spotting cycle day 18 and day 19 (yesterday) was brown and slightly heavier. Today is very light but still there. I had been testing for ovulation but stopped on day 17 when I was still getting flashing smiley. Thinking it could be ovulation bleeding.

ElizabethBennet3rd · 03/02/2020 21:28

UPDATE- now I’m spotting. I’m on CD8 if that period was in fact a period, never had a cycle like this. Cramps, nausea, sleeplessness, so tired. What gives? Anyone else had an odd cycle? Thinking I might have a bigger problem- may explain why we aren’t getting pregnant?

@elizabethbennet3rd I am the exact same as you this month af arrived on cycle day 30 and wasn't due until cycle day 34 it was brown then dark red with tiny clots and lighter than usual af lasted 3 days it went from being full on to pink spotting and stopping and the next day I had pink spotting for 5 hours then nothing I've had extremely sore sharp pains in my back and belly and quiet low down the same as you've explained my boobs are extremely sore to touch and the nipples are tingling and feeling like a burning sensation I spoke to my gp and they told me to ignore it I'm currently waiting for NHS 24 to call back as I'm in alot of pain this evening and think there could be something wrong! Hopefully you get some answers soon x

ElizabethBennet3rd · 03/02/2020 22:07

@NicoleR14 oh darling I totally sympathise! I was close to calling 111 myself last night as I felt something was really not right. Had a hot bath and cuddles with the husband and felt a bit better so went to bed. Today the cramping/pain(ish) is ok but I started spotting. Very creamy and pink (sorry TMI). I’m really at a loss at this point but, though I’m so sorry you’re going through this too, it feels a tiny bit better to find a friend and know I’m not alone in this! Here’s hoping we are both going to be just fine, and with child very soon!!

Please keep me updated! I do hope you’re feeling a bit better soon xx

@ElizabethBennet3rd Hey! I was just wondering if you got a bfp or your period in the end? I am literally in the same boat as you word for word and would really appreciate to know what happened! 2 day brown bleed, no 'AF' (if it wasnt AF) and now sore boobs and cramps. Thanks!!

Lily501 · 08/04/2020 21:32

That definitely sounds like it could be implantation bleeding? I'd take a test @Lizziebizzie!

Good luck xx

Lizziebizzie · 08/04/2020 22:04

Thanks!!
I did take a test around 15 dpo (cant be sure exactly because wasnt charting) still quite new to ttc but got a BFN :(

I would have thought I would have got a BFP by then! Still no sign of AF so now just think it was a strange period :( just very unusual and not sure why I would get so many completely new symptoms. Usually I just get very crabby or headaches. Never had sore boobs in my life! Seems like forever to wait to see if my next period arrives or not!
@lily501

Lily501 · 08/04/2020 22:15

Oh I know, its all so confusing, I'm new to it too...but yeah, from what I've read on here I'd have thought 15DPO would be late enough for a BFP? There are lots of stories of tests being inconclusive though...are you going to test again? When is AF due?

How long have you been TTC?

Lizziebizzie · 08/04/2020 22:18

Only for a couple of months but allowed myself to get excited when my boobs started getting sore which has literally never happened! My period was due 7 days ago today :( I'm going to take one more test at 21dpo and then leave it because that is likely to be pretty conclusive :( I will have to start charting or taking temps as its frustrating not knowing exactly where I am at.

How long have you been trying? I hope all works out for you soon!!

Lily501 · 08/04/2020 22:31

We've been not not trying for 6 months but just started properly focusing on ovulation etc last month...

I'm tracking bbt and I really like it...although this month my temp has not been following the patterns I was expecting so I might feel differently at the end of this cycle Grin

Late period and achey boobs are like the text-book signs, so can understand why you got excited! Really hope you get the result you want at 21DPO, keeping everything crossed for you xx

Lizziebizzie · 08/04/2020 22:38

Thank you lovely and you too!! Thank god I found this place Xxx

Lily501 · 11/04/2020 17:28

@Lizziebizzie How are you getting on?? How many DPO are you now?

xx

Lizziebizzie · 11/04/2020 18:22

@Lily501 Hey! :) So I'm 20-22dpo (not quite sure) too another test a few days ago and still BFN but still no AF either! I've had quite bad cramping on and off for the last few days and quite a bit of cm (sorry eww) but nothing else! I can only presume maybe I didnt ovulate last month but goodness knows! I've ran out of tests now so I'm just waiting to see if my next 'due' AF turns up on time if you see what I mean and if then still nothing I'll take another test. Sigh. That's not due for anotjer 10 days or so though. So strange!! How are you? Where are you in your cycle? Xx

Lily501 · 11/04/2020 19:02

@Lizziebizzie Oh that's so strange! At least you don't have too many days until the next AF for some clarity... Have you tried different types of test? I've read threads about 'bad batches' before?

I suppose it could just be periods being weird I suppose...

I actually just got a BFP this morning! 23DPO I think. That's what made me think of how you're getting on... It was a bit unexpected tbh because I actually thought I'd had my period this month, but obviously not...? Who knows...I never knew our bodies were so complicated until TTC Shock

I hope your mystery is solved soon!

Lizziebizzie · 11/04/2020 19:40

@Lily501 Omg that's amazing!!! I'm so happy for you :) you must be so happy?! Maybe there is hope for me then.

This cycle is just so weird like nothing I have ever had before. I want to re-test but feel like it is just costing me so much money. What test did you use if you dont mind me asking? Xxx

Lily501 · 11/04/2020 20:40

@Lizziebizzie Yeah I was thinking maybe if the cramps had started since you tested a few days ago I would be tempted to do another one! But I really don't know all the science behind it at all...I know essentially it's just a rise in certain hormones but it's so tricky to work it all out.

Maybe it's down to something like stress instead with this whole Covid thing?

And thank you! I don't think it's really sunk in yet! We're in Italy and the test is called Alvita, if that means anything? But it's basically just a POAS test with pink dye (I heard the dye colour makes a difference so thought I'd mention it haha)

Sending lots of luck your way Flowers

xx

Lizziebizzie · 11/04/2020 21:54

@Lily501 Yeah I was just hoping that my hormone levels were a bit slow to rise and was going to just forget about it until the cramps started! If they continue I might test again. I used a Clear Blue before and apparently they aren't very sensitive.

Thanks lovely I'll let you know how things go (eitherway). Once again congrats:) Flowers stay safe in Italy and enjoy being pregnant!! Xx
