Pill after miscarriage to reset periods

I had a miscarriage at the end of last year and have had prolonged bleeding since. Seemed to be in cycles but sometimes only one week between heavy bleeds and it never completely stopped. GP was not concerned, have been referred for tests (bloods and scan)
but said we just need to reset my periods. So I started taking the pill and within a week the bleeding has completely stopped 🎉 just wondering if anyone else was given this advice and how many pill packs you took? I'm scared that when i come off and I have my breakthrough bleed I'll have issues with it stopping. I want to try again so obviously want to be on the pill for as little time as possible!

Thanks

@Ldawg i dont have the same experience but close enough.
Had termination 13 years ago and then medical management.
The bleeding never stopped and bled so much i was hospitalised with anaemia a month after and put on the pill to stop the bleeding. They said (in medical terms) that ny hormones were messed up.

I think i only took that pill for two months and dont rememeber crazy long bleed afterwards.

Good luck to you :)

Thanks so much for you message and sorry you've been through a similar experience. It felt like it was never going to end for a while! But that gives me hope that once I come off I will have been 'reset' and the continual bleeding won't start up again.
