Did you feel ill during a chemical pregnancy?

Hi everyone!

A question for people who've had a chemical pregnancy....

Did you feel 'ill' during it?

I had a chemical in Nov/Dec, and I was 'ill' from the day I conceived to about 2 days before I lost it. I was being sick, had SEVERE fatigue, felt like I had flu, and was just generally really really unwell the whole time. I just thought it was normal pregnancy stuff.

This cycle, I have been being sick from 3 dpo, am tired (but not fatigued), have veiny boobs, am having VERY vivid dreams and feel surprisingly normal given that my period is due (I'm 2 days late)

I felt ill this cycle, right up until about 9/10dpo, when I had some cramps, and then felt great. I don't know if I'm pregnant, but if I am, I wonder if I was ill up until it implanted, then ok again. With the chemical I felt awful the entire time.

So I just wondered out of curiosity....Has anyone else felt really awful and then had a chemical pregnancy?

I had strong pregnant symptoms with my CP, I had 24/7 nausea, bad fatigue and had awful bloating. All disappeared the day after I started bleeding which was at 5+5.

I'm pregnant again, nearly 10 weeks and felt the same immediately in terms of nausea, but wasn't as fatigued - that's caught up with me now! I guess every pregnancy is different but I've felt pretty rough with both.

I have a suspicion I have just had a chemical. I felt just as you described above; when AF arrived it’s been much heavier and more painful than normal and lasted 1-2 days longer. So if it was a chemical I’d have to agree with you!

I'm pretty sure I had a CP last cycle. The day after I got a faint positive I woke up with a sore throat and cold. I then only got BFNs from there on out. The cold lasted about 3/4 days and was pretty bad, I felt really tired all the time. I also had other pregnancy symptoms which I had had with DS1. My period was then 11 days late and I only had 3 days of light spotting (which I assume must have been AF but was very unusual for me) xx

@Lf89 congrats on your new pregnancy! How amazing!

That's really interesting! I'm totally baffled by my own experience, because I feel half pregnant, half not based on last time haha. I'm not as fatigued (but I'm also not working 10 hour shifts with no break this time!) And my boobs aren't anywhere near as sore. But they are veiny, and I'm getting REALLY fed up of being sick after every meal with no explanation. But I also have no migraines, which is interesting because I usually get 2 or 3 a week at least. I feel pregnant like last time, but I dont feel as ill with it. It's possible that AF is on the way (3 days late now), but if I am pregnant then I feel a lot less lightheaded this time. If that's the case then I guess maybe I was just overworked last time. Who knows.

@Iwouldlikesomecake aww I'm sorry to hear that. It does sound like a chemical to me. It's super common unfortunately! I'm 3 days late but still resisting to test in case I am pregnant and lose it again 😭 Its not nice.

@Katnissx that does sound a bit strange. Maybe it was a chemical. Could also have been a combination of hormones and feeling ill from the cold I guess? It's so hard to gauge what's going on, isnt it?!

I did! I was being sick, off foods, bloated and unable to get comfy from a few days after ovulation... I was taking tests which were coming up negative for almost 2 weeks before I got the positive... Felt horrific. When I took the one whet I got BFP I said to DP, if this one is negative ill need to see the gp because I'm clearly not well. Had a bit of spotting at 5w6d and confirmed non viable through bloods, one day of light bleeding... Symptoms went away but then Didn't bleed properly for another 10 days.
I too wondered if it was a sign something was wrong from the get go x

@BS9790 That's so strange! I'm so sorry you had to go through a chemical too, they're pretty horrific, but sadly really common aren't they?

I said the EXACT same thing to my husband at the weekend. I said "I think something was wrong with that pregnancy from the get-go. I dont know if I'm pregnant right now, but if I am, then I will have been feeling really rough up until implantation, and then it was a bit easier. I mean, I still throw up every meal I eat, am tired, have very veiny boobs and sore hips...But I dont feel like I cant move, which I did with the CP. Dont want to test incase I am pregnant and I lose it again 😭 I'm now about 19dpo.

Its interesting to hear people saying the same thing! I wonder if there was something wrong from the beginning with both our pregnancies?!

I had a CP in October and felt nauseous very early on - from pretty much straight after I ovulated. Also felt very tired and bloated and just generally a bit under the weather. AF started about a week later than predicted, and was very, very heavy, but as soon as it started all my pregnancy symptoms went away.

Whynosnowyet · 13/01/2020 20:12

I had 3 over 5 months. All very different. 1 a normal period. No pains etc. 2nd like a miscarriage, lots of bleeding and pain - for about 10 days. While I was on holiday - just great. And 3rd lots of pain but not much blood. All got a bfp at 9dpo and bfn within 5 days post period due date.

Iwouldlikesomecake · 13/01/2020 20:15

So sorry all of you have gone through this and also makes me feel a bit better that it wasn't all in my head.

Now I need to work out our best chance this month as I'm pretty new to all this!

BS9790 · 13/01/2020 22:58

@Iwouldlikesomecake not sure if I count as a chemical, by the time I bled I was actually 8 weeks, if I hadn't of been for my bloods checking after the bit of spotting I wouldn't of known I was losing it until 8 weeks... Instead I Just had almost 2 weeks waiting for it the inevitable to happen :/
We're trying again this cycle, not waiting for AF but think I've ovulated earlier than I expected so likely we've missed this month!

BS9790 · 13/01/2020 23:01

Sorry... Reply about chemical was to @Gemma0711!!

Still getting used to this site Grin

Gemma0711 · 14/01/2020 19:58

@BS9790...Ahh I see. I'm sorry to hear that! It's so hard isnt it? I'm so sorry you had to go through that. You will fall pregnant again though 😊 Its just such a shame that we're so sensitive to it.

My hormones have sent my anxiety through the roof. 20dpo today I think. Had the most horrendous night last night, couldn't sleep which is unlike me. I somehow got crazy hot trying to go to sleep and then just randomly lay on the floor for an hour to try and cool down. Very sicky, sore and veiny boobs, tired, spotty, very high cervix, no sign of AF as yet....But absolutely TERRIFIED to test in case I'm pregnant and I lose it again 😭😭😭 This coming weekend would be the time I lost it last time, so I'm feeling REALLY anxious 😭😭😭
