SMEP - do I HAVE to have sex tonight???

Can’t believe I’m asking this question......

Have been doing SMEG. I also chart temperature to confirm ovulation.

This cycle we have been diligently dtd every other day since end of period. EWCM on cd14, first positive OPK on cd15. Dtd on cd 13, 15, 16, 17. Today is cd18. I still have a postive OPK, but it’s a bit fainter, no temperature rise yet. Do we still HAVE to dtd tonight? Or can we take a night off without ruining things?

We could both do with an early night (DD is 3, so daytime is out of the question) and to be honest I’m feeling a bit sore - last night was a little bit rougher than usual as DH was finding it difficult because he was tired and not really in the mood. I feel like we could really do with a night off, but I don’t want to mess things up!

Hey!
I’m in a very similar situation!
I think you’d be absolutely fine to have a night of and maybe go again tomorrow. You’ve dtd 3 nights in a row and that’s plenty I would say.
Maybe do another opk this evening and see where you’re at? But if neither of you are really in the mood I wouldn’t force it and you will enjoy it more tomorrow!

I’m currently on CD16. We have been dtd every second day since cd6 when my period ended. So we went 6,8,10 but then again last night on CD11 because grandparents were looking after our 3 year old and we were in the mood but now it’s thrown me off haha. My opks are high but I don’t think I’ve peaked yet but my apps are saying I’m due to ov tomorrow/Tuesday so I think we’re going to have tonight off too!
Good luck!! We should be testing around the same time so I’d love to here how you get on 😊

I meant 6,8,10,12,14 and last night was cd15 🙈
SMEP is so much sex hahaha! But hopefully it works for us both 😊

Hello! Normally you ovulate within 48 hours max after a positive OPK. Has your temp risen yet? If not then you may not yet have ovulated, however it's unlikely if you had a positive OPK three days ago.
I conceived last month, we DTD 3&2 days before confirmed ovulation day. It's good to DTD a few days before and up to the day of as sperm can take a while to even find the fallopian tubes. DTD after ovulation is very unlikely to result in conception so if you are ovulating today the sperm that are already there will be the ones to get the egg anyway...
I would say unless you're really in the mood, don't worry about it tonight, you've definitely covered your bases! X

I had sex once using the pull out method 5 days before ovulation and got pregnant. So trust me you’ve done enough!

As others have said above, plus evidence to suggest sperm motility is better every other day so if you need an excuse, use that one!

Ok, thanks guys! Took the night off, had a temperature rise this morning so at least I’ve ovulated. Guess I’ll find out in 2 weeks!

@JoesM12, have you had a positive OPK yet? Or still waiting?

@crazychemist oh brill! Glad you got your temp rise!
Yes I got the solid smiley on the clear blue digital ov test this morning!! And my app now predicts I’ll ov Wednesday! So a couple of days later than usual. Hopefully we’re able to dtd for 3 night’s straight now!
Sending lots of baby luck your way x
