Ovulation and DTD every day- actually bad for men?

A lot of people on here seem to DTD every other day. But when ovulating sometimes seem to try every day. Which feels tempting.

But although that gives us a chance of DTD at the right time for us, I was reading about men. And that doing it every day actually means the concentration of sperm would be less, therefore making conception actually harder? Of course the SMEP is telling you to do this. But I was just having a thought of - maybe the reason it takes longer to conceive could be that we are trying too hard? And every day may be a hindrance more than a help? I don't know thought- it's a bit like finger in the air, but I do wonder what to do for the best.

I’ve wondered this too, but I think it varies couple to couple. I have friend’s who’ve DTD every other day, every day and every 2-3 days and all got pregnant quickly 🤷🏻‍♀️

I kind of did SMEP the month I conceived (although it sadly ended in miscarriage). Did every other day from day 8, then day of and after positive ovulation test, then skipped a day and DTD again. So I’m still none the wiser haha. I went for every other day this cycle, so hoping that works also!

Hmm I don't know what to do. We got overexcited and even did twice a day part of last month. Not from a conception point of view mind. Grin But I'm not sure that's good for the purpose. I'm wondering what to do this month.....

Unless there is evidence of low sperm count then every day is fine....

I really stressed myself out last month by trying too hard I think! Worrying about OPKs etc. It became more of a chore and that's really not how I wanted it to be. I did read somewhere that every day is fine (if you've got the stamina and want to ha!) as sperm concentration will be back to normal after 24hrs. Not sure how true that is and can't remember where I read it sorry! This month we're just doing as the NHS page 'trying to get pregnant' says and DTD every 2-3 days (although was a bit more frequent over Xmas/new year) Smile I'm hoping a more relaxed chilled approach will work!

This article is helpful: www.avawomen.com/avaworld/how-often-should-you-have-sex-to-get-pregnant/

Basically every day is marginally better than every other day assuming the man has a normal sperm count. If his count is low then having sex every day will reduce the number of sperm but can make them healthier (because they are fresher). But in both cases the difference between every other day and every day isn't much.

25% if doing it every day? God knows hope these people do it by accident! Confused

Ok thanks, that's useful. I've no idea on sperm count, so we'll assume normal for now. Obviously after a time we'd get it looked at if nothing is progressing.

Make the most of having as much sex aa you can! I'm 20 weeks' pregnant tomorrow and hardly getting any!! 😂

We dtd every other day and I fell first month which was a nice surprise as I'm 39.

@paintfairy I've read 37% elsewhere though so who knows what's true!
