New diagnosis of pcos...

Just had results from my uss which confirm PCOS. The dr did say all my bloods were perfect, including my hormone levels. The news is a bit devastating but I know it isn't the end of the world and now I have answers as to why my periods are so irregular. He is referring me to gynae to look at treatment options.

Does anyone have any idea what the next steps are? I am going to try losing some weight starting after next week once all the christmas food is out of the way!
Anyone have experiences or stories for me

Thanks
Sarah

Hi Sarah,

I got diagnosed with PCOS around 12 years ago. I was upset about periods being so irregular as I desperately wanted children. I came off contraception and my periods started to regulate that was with exercising. I find exercising really really helps 😊 and eating healthily although I do treat myself now and then.
I now have 1 beautiful 3 year old DD and currently 32 weeks pregnant with DD2.

I do remember being devastated when they diagnosed me though. I'm sorry you're going through this.
My advice is exercise it works wonders 😊

P.S. I never had any treatment. I believe you can have surgery to get them removed. I'm not sure on that front. Best of luck 💐

I was diagnosed with pcos 9 years ago when pregnant with my 2nd, i havent had any treatment for it, last year they found a large cyst on my right ovary (i was in agony) but it wasnt large enough to warrant surgery to remove it. Im really lucky that so far its caused me no fertility issues. I mostly suffer with bad stomach aches on one side depending on which side is acting up. Last year it was my left side that hurt and was told it was deferred pain! Didnt realise that could happen. Not sure im much help but thats my experience so far.

Thanks @RoRosmama and @Hatepickinganame. Apart from very irregular periods and very long cycles, I don't experience much else apart from some acne! This is obviously having a massive effect on us trying to conceive and is so disheartening! I have not been on any contraception for a while now, my last injection was June 2018 x

I was diagnosed in 2015 when ttc, but it wasn’t really a surprise as i’d always had irregular periods and excess body and facial hair.

I ended up needed Clomid because repeated blood tests showed I wasn’t ovulating (tried weight loss but it didn’t make a difference for me unfortunately, did put me at a healthier weight for pregnancy though so wasn’t a waste of time!) After 6 cycles I got pregnant and DD is 2 now.

Best of luck to you.

I had three kids whilst not knowing I had PCOS, but I've had the symptoms since I was about 15. Only found out about 3 years ago. So don't think it automatically means infertility Smile I have been told that losing 5% of your weight can have a massive positive effect on PCOS.

Follow a lowish carb med diet. Try and lose a bit of weight, - I know it's hard. Sugar is my biggest downfall once I have any I swing out of control.

I'm 42 so older than you but I've never been formally treated yet I've had no problem with conceiving. If anything I would say I'm hyper fertile (google it - it can be a consequence of pcos). I'm currently pregnant with my 5th child but have conceived naturally and quickly 7 times. Please don't lose hope.

Thanks everyone! I feel a lot more positive now after hearing your experiences. Started back at the gym this week and going to tackle the healthy eating next week! Thought I would enjoy my food this week as I have worked all of the festive period and my and the other half finally have a week off this week!
Xx
