Chemical pregnancy? Questions..

Hi,

I was just wondering if someone could answer some questions I have about chemical pregnancy and whether it sounds like I may be having one?

I am two days late for my period (was due on Friday), keep getting BFNs on tests, including a FRER yesterday with FMU.

Last Saturday (7 days ago) I got some light pink bleeding after DTD, really small amount and went back to watery CM the next day. I thought at the time it could have been implantation bleeding.

Then I got the attached picture on a pregnancy test last Sunday (6 days ago), however BFNs since. I don't know if it was a true positive as I left the test and came back to it after a while so could possibly have been dye run that settled in an indent line or something?

I came down with a cold (sore throat, mucus, congestion) last Sunday which lasted a few days which at the time I thought could be a good sign of pregnancy (after some googling)

Also I had been having symptoms similar to when I was pregnant with my DS- waking up in the night to pee, headaches but I am no longer having these symptoms.
I have had continued lightheadedness and tiredness and definitely increased hunger (I will eat and then get strong hunger pangs right after). However I can't help feel it's not a good sign that the other symptoms seem to have gone? I also kind of 'felt' pregnant a week ago and don't feel like this anymore.

So I guess I'm just wondering if having a possible positive test last weekend and potential symptoms now lessoning and a delayed period could be a sign of a chemical pregnancy?

Does a chemical pregnancy create pregnancy symptoms/make you feel pregnant?

How long is your period likely to be delayed after a chemical pregnancy?

How long after a positive pregnancy test have people had AF arrive after a CP?

I really hope this post isn't insensitive to anyone, I just really don't know what's going on with me and had a few people mention CP in my previous thread and can't help wondering. I don't want to get my hopes up with having a late period if it's likely late due to a CP 😔

Thanks for reading x

Hi, didn't want to read and run so thought I'd reply!

I had a cp last month - faint positives on frer for 4 days before negatives. I got same v early symptoms as during a previous pregnancy, namely bad heartburn and dizziness - could be coincidental. My period came 7 days late (normally like clockwork) and was a little heavier than usual.

I hope you get some good news soon
Xx

Thank you for the reply @didslysquiddlydoo,
Do you mind if I ask where you were in your cycle when you got your positives?
I guess I'm trying to work out if a week before AF was due would have been too early or not to have picked up a potential CP 🤔

@Katnissx the first positive (first time I tested) was five days before period due. Continued to get the same light positive up until 1 day before period due, when it went stark white again. Period then arrived a week after it was originally due. These tests were FRER's so the most sensitive on the market xx

@didslysquiddlydoo Thank you so much for your reply, that was really helpful xx

Hi @Katnissx, I'm going through something similar so just thought I'd post for moral support! I am 8 days late and having the milky discharge I normally do with pregnancy, but my test at 19dpo was lighter than the previous ones and my test at the doctors at 20dpo was barely visible. Not looking good and was told to expect my period, that it was most likely a chemical pregnancy. However I've had zero cramping and continuing with discharge which is confusing me, I'm wondering has it just not registered with my body yet. Keeping everything crossed for you that you get good news, I'm pretty sure it's not looking good for me but wish it would hurry up if that's the case as it's doing my head in!! Confused

Katnissx · 16/12/2019 22:50

Hi @Riedelz thank you for your message. Nice to have moral support, although I'm sorry you are in the same boat. Have you had any changes today? I keep waiting for AF to show but nothing yet. My cervix still feels high as well and mostly EWCM. Most of my symptoms have gone now though and I don't 'feel pregnant'. I am pretty sure I'm not now, but I can't help hold onto that last thread of hope. Wish AF would just show and put me out of my misery 🤦‍♀️xx

Hi @Katnissx, AF showed up 9 days late! I have to say I was relieved to see it as I couldn't keep playing the guessing game and I knew it was going to happen anyway. I really hope you get answers soon, the waiting is unbearable xx

Katnissx · 19/12/2019 23:58

@Riedelz sorry for the late reply, missed your message somehow! Sorry to hear AF finally arrived, but yeah I totally get the relieved feeling! I am still playing the waiting game, will be a week late tomorrow 🙄 Still BFNs and no sign of AF. I'm pretty sure I'm not PG now, just hope AF hurries up now so we can get trying again! Hope you are ok xx

The top test was the day my period was due. The bottom was the following day. Then my period came the next day.

I wasnt any heavier but I did notice on the Saturday that I got the positive I had a lot of cramping which I had when I was pregnant with dd.

That's a clearer pic of the positive.

And by cramping I meant that I dont get cramps before my period is due. It's usually on day 2 I get it.

I had numerous chemical pregnancies in the 6 years leading up to my successful pregnancy (yay!). Period was usually anywhere from a couple of days to 3 weeks late. I would get a faint positive line on home test a couple of days before period was due. On two of these occasions I had blood tests done on the day period was due and the beta was

GlasIsGreen · 20/12/2019 21:17

I forgot to add that when I did finally have a successful pregnancy last year, at the start it was absolutely identical to the chemicals. Faint line several days before period due and early symptoms such as queasiness and sore breasts began around the same time. The only difference was that this time the line grew stronger instead of disappearing and period never arrived.

Katnissx · 23/12/2019 20:49

Thanks for the reply @GlasIsGreen, I'm sorry to hear about your CPs, but congrats on your successful pregnancy 🙂

Does anyone know if having a chemical pregnancy can make you have a lighter period?
All I've read online is that it tends to be heavier. But I've started having pink tinged CM since last night (10 days late), it is more CM than blood and is not at all like my normal AF, I usually start heavy. So I'm just wondering if it is definitely AF and if it's just more like spotting due to a CP? X
