Experiences please - first response (FRER) BFP then next day BFN - dodgy tests or....

I’ve read a lot about first response tests giving False positives, they do have a grey indent but a couple of days ago I took a test and had a pink line come up, not even a squinter! I was so excited.. took one the next morning and nothing and have taken one day and still nothing.. if it’s not a chemical then it’s a bad design flaw!

I’ve had this with these before. I had the coil in at the time and went to the dr because I was worried it could be ectopic but when they did a test and a blood test everything was negative. I don’t think I ever was pregnant and the test was just dodgy.

@OP Yep, with a frer, I bought them off amazon though so they could have been dodgy ones.

@Banoffeepie91 wow that’s awful, so many people devastated thinking they’d had a chemical and may not have! I don’t know what to say really, very sad! Mine were also amazon but had two in a pack so weird if only one was dodgy!

I’m going to test in a few days still if af hasn’t arrived!

Did you take a pic of yours? I’ve only got one of the test and picture doesn’t show it justice, it was much more obvious in real life and haven’t used a filter or anything Xx

This was mine. There was definitely something wrong with them though because everything else came up negative and I had the coil. Even the doctor couldn’t explain it. It completely put me off frer tbh.

I think yours looks really promising. Give it a few more days and maybe test again?

Oh wow @Banoffeepie91 your poor thing! That’s shocking!!! The line on there is strong.. did you ever contact first response? They need to sort their sh** out by the looks of things! I’m wondering how anyone is meant to trust one of those now!

@Sunflower2019 I tried to find contact details for them and filled in a form online but I never heard anything back. Maybe I sent it to the wrong place.
I hate looking at this picture tbh because it makes me so upset. We weren’t trying when I got this but now been trying since June and not had even a hint of a line on anything.

I’ve got everything crossed for you, I have a good feeling about it and hope I’m right.

Same I’ve been trying since July, tested and got this pink line, was so shocked a mixture of emotions and then announcing it on the thread etc to then take one the next two days with nothing, I’m 10 Dpo tomorrow and af due 14th so still have time but I just think maybe I’m out.. and wasn’t meant to be!
Sorry to hear you’ve been through this.. hopefully other people will see this and realise it can be down to the test and not them! :) good luck to you too!!!!

@Sunflower2019 it’s still very early for you. Try and hold out until Friday and then test again. I’m not due to ovulate until the 18th so will be on the TWW over Christmas. Maybe that will make it go faster though as I’ll be busy.
Keep me posted on how you get on.

Done another frer today at 10dpo and nothing that I could see, but having weird symptoms, thinking if it was a chemical it’s the hormones? Thanks for checking in @Ange211 xx

Hey guys, as frer tests are the most sensitive do you not think that they were picking up chemical pregnancies and that as they show a line at very low levels, your hormones can very quickly reduce so that that the next day they show as negative. I read an article that explained that to get colour on the test strip there has to be hcg to turn it pink, water can't turn it pink and neither can urine as it's the hcg in the urine that reacts as it passes over the test strip to turn it pink. This is why evap lines are grey as there is no hcg to turn it pink but as your tests were pink then I think there were even small levels of hcg there.

Hey @sarahc336 that’s a valid point but @Banoffeepie91 had a blood test and the coil and her test was very noticeably pink 🤷‍♀️ I thought mine may of been a chemical but for a line to be there and then do another test and nothing seems odd, you’d expect to see a decline in the line over time xx
