Weird Pill withdrawal symptoms, or pregnancy?!! Help!

Hi everyone,

Im new here and wondering if anyone can advise me on a few things, because google hasnt helped at all lol.

I came off my pill on 31st October, nearly 3 weeks ago to TTC first baby. I used to take qlaira because I had severe PMS, and after much changing contraception from pill to mini pill to mirena back to mini pill, qlaira was the best suited to me. You take qlaira for 4 weeks, with no break in packs. Bleeding should occur around day 21, which for me was around 28th october.

I have had the most horrendous withdrawal symptoms, and was wondering if anyone knows how long this is meant to go on for before it settles? I think I actually ovulated on the 10th November. I tend to get PMS before ovulation too (yay) and the two days before the 10th I was crying all day, and totally hormonal, and getting cramps. Then on the 10th I had the clear egg white discharge.

A couple of days last week I was so nauseous that I was struggling to eat, and I was even sick a couple of times. I have unbearably sore breasts, constipation, cramps, and am totally exhausted! I also seem to be getting quite a lot of discharge, which doesn't seem right at this time.

I haven't bled at all, which also seems weird, because that's my body's default response to any contraception change. I bled through pill packets if I tried to take them back to back (about 5 years ago), I bled last year for 16 weeks on the mini pill and I have extremely heavy and painful periods off contraception. I've had a laparoscopy about 3 years ago and everything's fine!

Does anyone know how long pill withdrawal lasts for? Because I'm going out of my mind! It doesn't seem likely that I could have got pregnant straight away? How long should i wait for a period before i test? Im thinking another 3 or 4 weeks?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!!

If you think you ovulated on the 10th then I would test in the next few days. It does take a while for some people to ovulate after stopping the pill but some people get back to normal straight away. It took me a while to ovulate but I didn't have any side affects like you. Could he worth having a chat with your doctor

It sounds like you have an awful time of it. Hope it settles soon

Thank you! I really dont know what's going on. I feel really sick again this afternoon, so am going to see how I get on over the next few days and then possibly speak to a doctor. Although they'll probably just recommend that I take a test first 🤷‍♀️

Yes it does sounds like pregnancy symptoms but seems early if you ovulated the 10th. I'd test at the end of the week. You shouldn't be feeling this poorly. Hopefully someone else will post who was on the same pill as you x

It seems way too early, not impossible, but unlikely. Its possible that I might just feel like this until I get a period, but I don't know how long it's going to take to get a period 😑 Its driving me mad. Hopefully someone else might respond whose had a similar experience at least! 😊
