TTC 1st Baby - 40+ - Advice from experienced ladies

Hi all, I have posted about my TTC before and now have a bit more information since last time having had further tests and a HyCosy.

I was wondering if anyone who's 40+ and has had any kind of fertility treatment has any further advice or tips for me on our TTC path? Particularly interested in advice from those who have TTC their 1st baby after 40.

Here is a basic rundown of our situation so that I don't drip feed:

Me age 40, DH age 30
We have TTC for 6 months
My AMH is 7.4
Follicle count 10 (5 each side)
FSH 7.7
HyCosy came back as tubes all clear / normal
DH sperm normal / healthy

Diet:
Eat Mediterranean diet,
No sugar, refined / processed foods, alcohol
small amount of dairy full fat organic
red meat max 1 a week otherwise lean protein / oily fish
1 cup coffee a day
Pre-conception multi-vit / folic
Ubiquinol / CoQ10
Wheatgrass

Health:
exercise 3-4 x week but could do more (work from home)
BMI is 23.9
Am thinking of starting acupuncture.

Fertility Consultant has advised continuing to TTC naturally until January and then if no pregnancy go straight to IVF.

He also said in the meantime I could get my thyroid tested just in case there is anything to note.

Is there anything else I / we could do or know about here?

Thank you X

Hello. Sounds like you've got most of it covered. Also sounds like you read It Starts with an Egg which I think is good and where we got our advice.

We also avoided plastics and parabens. Bought natural shampoo etc and stopped using anti-perspirant. No idea if it helped. We'd always thought of ourselves as not particularly sweaty types until we gave up the Mitchum Confused

We started TTC aged 40. Went for first IVF consultation after 6 months and started IVF after 9. Turned out we needed ICSI so lucky we didn't wait longer. We got lucky after a second fresh cycle and our DD was born when I was nearly 42. She is now 9 months old.

Best of luck. Sounds like you've got it covered. It can totally happen so go for it xxx

Thanks @Janefx40. I haven't actually read that book but it sounds interesting!
Okay, thanks for the confidence boost! It is hard to keep taking it day by day but keeping fingers crossed.
Congratulations on your DD Smile

Just posting @Janefx40 to say I did two early tests this morning (3 days before period due) and they show I'm pregnant. Long way to go and still early days but good news!

Oh my goodness!!! Congratulations. Sorry I just saw this. How are you feeling?

Oh hi @Janefx40 just seen this! I'm ok thank you. Smile I'm still pregnant at the moment. 6 weeks now. 🙏🏼 🙏🏼 Just taking it slowly each day at a time as I've still got my fertility consultant ringing in my ears telling me about the 50% chance of miscarriage. But trying not to think far ahead and just keep making healthy choices and looking after myself. I hope you're still enjoying motherhood Smile

For the benefit of anyone else who may stumble across this thread, I feel almost certain that the HyCosy unblocked something in my tubes and made the difference as I got pg straight away afterwards having had months of trying. I know this is a fairly common phenomenon. So I would really recommend ladies who are seeking fertility advice to get that procedure done from the outset, alongside the AMH tests / follicle scans etc.
