Hey everyone, so this is my first ever baby. Very early days, haven't seen a doctor or anything at this moment in time. But think I am about 6 weeks so far... I've been having full cramps for over a week but the pain is so bad sometimes, it's waking me up or stopping me from doing things... I'm assuming it's gas... Well.... Cos... You know 🌬️🌬️🌬️🌬️🌬️ but what I am wandering is if anyone else has experienced this... Everyone I have spoken to says they can't remember being in pain like I am... I was on the pill for 17 years and cerazette for the last 6 without a period. This was to proven estrogen due to getting migraines... Could it be that my body has had low amount of estrogen that it's now affected by this increase?? Sorry for the rant, its 4:10am and been up for over an hour with gas pain... BTW doing this on my own, but all I've ever wanted ♥

You should definitely see the doctor ASAP, that doesn't sound great. Have you arranged your booking in appointment with the midwife too? I think it varies by area but mine was around 8 weeks.

As you're so early on it's probably not this, but I had really awful gas-like pains just below my ribs (along with other symptoms) at 34+6 and it was pre-eclampsia. Really hope it is just trapped wind and nothing more sinister Flowers

Greyhound22 · 22/10/2019 04:28

No you shouldn't be in that much pain. I felt nothing at that point in my pregnancy. I didn't have much in the way of discomfort until 20 weeks or so but everyone is different obviously.

It may well be trapped wind or acid (goodness knows they can be incredibly painful) but I really really think you should go and see someone tomorrow - I think it's quite urgent that you do. I hope everything is ok.

Hi @Rach2311, how long have you been off cerazette? I had horrible cramps a few weeks after stopping- and have read since that it has pretty bad side effects...

However, I did get awful 'contraction' like cramps when I was about 5-6 weeks pregnant- which turned out to be nothing. I did however get checked out by the GP- and sent for an early scan to rule out an ectopic (I also had sharp pains to the left)...

Deffo worth calling in and getting yourself seen xxx

JenDaw · 22/10/2019 14:55

And congratulations xxx

Rach2311 · 22/10/2019 14:58

Hey everyone thank you, I ma waiting for the doctors to call me back... I have been OK today... It definitely does seem like gas (for the obvious reason) just unsure why it has been so intense. Thankfully today has been a good day. I have no clue what I'm meant to do when so have been waiting all day for the doctors to return my call x

Hi Op! I had extreme gas pain in my first pregnancy, to the point it would leave me crippled on the floor....

But it passed as quickly as it came and never carried on for the amount of time you’re describing. For me it would happen like say once, then would be gone for maybe a week or so. And only ever happened a handful of times

Good luck at the doctors!

Nat6999 · 22/10/2019 15:25

I was like this until my morning sickness stopped, I started with cramps & awful diarrhoea every time I was sick. I spent a lot of the first four weeks sat on the toilet with my head in a bucket. Thankfully by 8 weeks it stopped as fast as it started. I couldn't eat proper meals, the only things I could keep down were plain boiled rice & plain pasta, I couldn't eat any meat, fish, eggs, potatoes, dairy or fruit & veg.

JenDaw · 24/10/2019 15:46

How did you get on @Rach2311 ? Hope all is well x

Rach2311 · 24/10/2019 15:55

Well, I've still been having stomach pains on and off but mainly at night and flipping unbearable at times (labour should be fun lol) but I'm not waiting on a call back from the doctor. The midwife said to me if there are no other symptoms like blood ext and only comes and goes there shouldn't be anything to worry about... I just want to know baby is OK.... Wish I never found out I was pregnant so early on cos all I'm doing is worrying xx

Aww @Rach2311 I know exactly what you mean... tbh I've been worrying all the way through and I already had an early scan... you could look into paying privately for one if that's an option, to put your mind at rest... they're really quite expensive though... and the relief is short lived in my opinion. Just try and stay positive- and if you feel any worse be sure to call the midwife again xx

randominternetperson · 25/10/2019 09:46

I had this with both of my healthy pregnancies. It was thought to be a combo of wind and everything stretching. I was in a surprising amount of pain though (only surpassed by the later stages of labour!)
It passed after about 9 weeks pregnant

Rach2311 · 25/10/2019 10:23

That's so good to know. Fingers crossed all is OK xc

Going in for a scan today, so will let you all know... Please wish me luck, this baby is all I have ever wanted. I'm hoping its just IBS and not eptopic xx

Best of luck, was just going to follow up with if there's any shoulder tip pain or bleeding seek medical advice very quickly! Glad you're getting a scan today.

Rach2311 · 25/10/2019 13:46

Hey everyone! So had external and internal scan but it is too early too see anything. They said there's a filled sac with what seems to be the yolk sac forming but I have to go back for another scan next Friday as alot will have developed. Been using Buscapan and pain has lessened loads... Seems alot of positive came from today though so I am not going into this next week worrying too much but definite answers will happen after next weeks scan... Thank you so much for your comments and support, I will keep you updated. I hope this spread will at least settle someone's mind, I couldn't find anything when looking for someone else who has had this xx

I had extreme gas pains early on in both pregnancies, literally pacing around the room & bending over double. Your hormones causes your digestive system up rapidly slow down and it can cause issues. I have IBS too & have experienced gas pains much the same in the past when not pregnant as well, it’s amazing how much they can hurt!

I’d be hopeful that’s all it is OP, they really can hurt & early pregnancy causes your body to go through a lot of changes!

Rach2311 · 26/10/2019 00:19

Thank you so much for your reply. Yes still in pain again tonight. But read up not to take buscopan whilst pregnant, eventhough one doctor said its fine then another doctor said not too... Its all very confusing... Just hoping for 1 good night sleep before this 9 months is up 😂 😂 xx

TildaTurnip · 26/10/2019 00:21

I had that in pregnancy and it really worried me but I too think it was just gas.

MrsCl19 · 26/10/2019 06:47

@Rach2311 I suffer with Ibs and I use peppermint cordial with hot water.

I suffer really bad but when I was pregnant I didn't have any symptoms which was so bizarre 😂
